What is better: Beta Alanine or Carnosine supplementation

What is better for raising Carnosine levels in the body: supplementing Beta Alanine Or L-Carnosine?
I read that Carnsosine could break down into beta Alanine and histidine once taken diminishing some of the positive effects. While taking beta alanine will help convert more into carnosine thereby giving you more carnosine in the end. However people seem to have some side effects with beta Alaine including tingling sensations and headaches. I'm kind of torn between the two at the moment. Any thoughts?
