@sometexan84 its a respiratory virus?!?? but i thought it causes diarrhea and stuff....?
yes and yes

well, then who knows what my primary infection was. the test said ebv but i read people with other acute infections like HIV will sometimes test positive to ebv monospot during primary infection
Can I ask what your EBV levels were/are? Especially the IgM and EA Early Antigen IgG?

but mine was the classic...huge swollen lymph nodes, sleeping a lot, 104 fever etc
Seems pretty spot on with Dr Chia's Enterovirus positive Case Studies...

104 is not a low grade fever though. the only test i had during the acute phase was monospot that i know of. in the ER and it was poz. it was only yrs later i started seeing doctors when i stayed sick. i do not believe, after all the tests i had (including very frequest testing at Lerner's office for almost 2 yrs), EBV showed elevated antibodies for any antigen. IgG or IgM. It was insane. Yrs of valtrex and valcyte and even IV Vistide for a while did nothing or almost nothing

Also, during acute phase,I do not recall any major gut issues

because I got ME/CFS after EBV.
It is unlikely. I think it is a misdiagnosis, personally. A lot of us got MECFS after 'EBV' - but that doesnt mean it was the primary cause, just what doctors found at the time. Remember all Herpes Viruses are in a latent state, waiting for something to trigger their reactivation. That is not to say I do not think some of us legit have EBV as the main cause - but it is likely a smaller subset, even though EBV is reported as the 'classical' onset for ME.

Despite my always testing non reactive to enterovirus antibodies even?
We are nowhere near discovering all Entroviruses, so still possible.

Yrs of valtrex and valcyte and even IV Vistide for a while did nothing or almost nothing
Because valtrex is mainly used to treat Herpes Viruses while Valcyte is more powerful and reserved for Retroviridae/HIV/AIDS, generally. None of those treat Picornaviruses; Enteroviruses being a part of the Picorna family.

@Thebirdman333 yes i mentioned the possibility that EBV is positive during other acute infections as well, so it could have been something else. It just fit the classic EBV pattern. I am aware the antivirals I was on do not target enterovirus; I did not take them to target enterovirus. I never stated that the cause is 100% not enterovirus, I just see no reason to think that that virus is more likely than any other virus.

I had next to no gut issues as in the acute phase as well. In fact, it seems to be the only area that is not affected. That does not mean something isn't going on in their though.
oh i had major major gut changes in the yrs following though. i knew something was changing but i couldnt put 2 and 2 together, sadly.
