Research summary:
Dr. Glaser has been involved in the cell biology, molecular biology, and immunology of EBV and cancer for 37 years. In 1982, Dr. Glaser started a collaboration with Dr. Kiecolt-Glaser and established a program combining behavior with the Virology and Cellular Immunology Laboratory in order to study the consequences of commonplace stressful events on the interactions among the CNS, endocrine, and immune systems. This line of research has also allowed Dr. Glaser to continue his studies of EBV latency from a clinical perspective. Dr. Glaser has been recognized as one of the World's Most Cited Authors comprised of less than one-half of one percent of all publishing researchers. In 2004, he was elected as an AAAS fellow and served as President of the Psychneuroimmunology Research Society. Dr. Glaser has been the Principal Investigator on three Program Project Grants and the Center grant in the field of Psychoneuroimmunology and the PI on an NIH post-doctoral training grant also in this area. Many of the faculty involved in all three Program Project Grants, the Center grant and the Training grant are part of the training faculty.
