I think it was supposed to be a joke. What he doesn't realise is that this joke was only offered up to him by his subconscious brain because of his deep fear of the war that is about to start tomorrow. In which I presume he'll be portraying himself as the brave British tommy battling away in the trenches against all the odds. Guess who we're going to be portrayed as?He came to London before the first worldwar?
He must be over a 100 years old then.

Just his theories are that old.He must be over a 100 years old then.
I doubt the publication will make a damned bit of difference. Wessely probably has nothing to worry about.
I think it might. The most important difference of all that it could make, would be to encourage and fortify other people and organisations to step out into the light and publicly speak their truths as well, to in turn encourage and fortify others. The snowball effect, avalanche effect, whatever.I doubt the publication will make a damned bit of difference. Wessely probably has nothing to worry about.
It most certainly will. To have peer reviewed criticism of the PACE trial published in a journal means we are no longer militant patients. It means our concerns have been deemed scientifically valid.I doubt the publication will make a damned bit of difference. Wessely probably has nothing to worry about.
In the end, it is just facts. Precious few seem concerned about those, these days. Power was never about facts. It most certainly will. If Simon Wessely was not involved this I would like to know who was. As an author whose work was apparently potentially barred from publication I think I have a right to know.
Good luck cleaning up the mess, Sir Simon. I'd play you a tune on my tiny violin, if I had the strength
Time will tell, let's wait and see.In the end, it is just facts. Precious few seem concerned about those, these days. Power was never about facts.
I suspect they would be much too scared to let on, given the power this person (currently at least) wields. Maybe something that a very good bit of investigative journalism might uncover in due course. And me with my suspicious mind, I would not be surprised if the person might even be someone outside the immediate PACE circle, but who might nonetheless have strong reasons for the status quo to remain. If PACE crumbles, then the whole social welfare strategy currently applied to ME sufferers starts to crumble - there are vast sums of public money and political reputations at stake here.Is there any way you can find out? Could you contact Sage publications and ask?

It may not change anything overnight but it adds to an increasing amount of questions for the PACE authors to answer. The more controversy around PACE the better, sooner or later funding bodies will shy away, not wanting any association with these people.
It also adds a lot of weight to people who campaign for the removal of CBT and GET as treatments for ME.
I like the sound of that, not least because it rings true.It most certainly will. To have peer reviewed criticism of the PACE trial published in a journal means we are no longer militant patients. It means our concerns have been deemed scientifically valid.

Toto pulls back a curtain and exposes the "Wizard" as a normal middle-aged man who has been projecting the fearsome image; he denies Dorothy's accusation that he is a bad man, but admits to being a humbug
