Anyone out there who has tried the Perrin Technique care to post your comments, please.
Thanks.

Hi
The perrin technique is NOT different than what therapists have been doing for years.

LYMPATHIC DRAINAGE IS VERY important to anyone with CFS because it helps remove toxins which we all have.

Search for any therapist in your area who does this massage. I have seen Dr perrin on and off for 2/12 years. The first 4 months i had the worst detox of my life.

I now realise the 'technique' is just what a massage therapist could do with out the tm next to it.

Moving the toxins throught the lymphatic system benefits MOST of the population. Its very important to our health and of course exercise which many CFS can't do stimulates lymph. If you can't exercise get someone to do it MANUALLY. It DOES NOT have to be Perrin!!

best wishes

Keenly - How much has this therapy helped you? In what particular ways? Could I do any of this on myself?

Thanks - Madeleine

Hi Zuriel - we had a couple of interesting threads on the Perrin Technique a while back, with quite a few people posting their experiences.

Here's one (which I started!) and here's another.

Hi Keenly - that's an interesting observation about the lymphatic drainage being the important thing. I was due to have some sessions with a Perrin practitioner but have had to keep cancelling due to having lots of viruses over the last few months. I have been rather scared of the spine manipulation stuff. Maybe I will just try the lymph drainage stuff (which people can do themselves).

Sasha - How con I do lymphatic drainage on myself?

Hi madie - in my single Perrin intro session I was shown how to do this. It's a pity there isn't a video somewhere on the internet! It's in the Perrin book (which is rather expensive).

It's a while now since I was shown it and my memory is bad but basically it involves very light stroking movements (the lymph channels are just underneath the skin and don't require force) with your hand (for your front) and a long-handled brush for your back. You have to start in a certain place and brush towards a certain place (direction is important).

Can any current Perrin users describe the technique? My memory is too fuzzy.

I think the info might have been given by Tom (?) on one of the threads I gave the link to.

Sorry to be so brainfogged!

I have 2 lymphatic drainage texts from a training, given to me by a friend. So I have pictures of the system and basic instructions on how to do it. Guidance about where exactly to work would be greatly appreciated.

I did it weekly with a practitioner for two years, and was treated by Ray himself monthly. I did the daily exercises myself during that time, and the hot-cold compresses on the spine. I got a big herx when I started. I don't know how much it contributed to a slow picking up of my functioning, but the basics of his theory make sense to me. Its not hard to do at home, reading his book is probably the best way to prep yourself, I gave my copy away, so cant remember how specific it is. If I can find any of the handouts from the clinic, will copy and post. I stopped when I got a frozen shoulder and couldn't do the exercises. I certainly met people in the clinic waiting room who had seen a huge improvement from it. I didn't really get that, but I do think alongside other approaches it can help. For me, not curative, but useful.

Is this available in kindle version of his book? Like is there any major difference in kindle compared to paperback?
Edit: Just checked kindle, it has picture, so I think there isn't a difference vs paperback...

I’m planning to go to a perrin specialist but some say it doesn’t have to be a special osteo. Is that right? Which one do I need to see then? I have the perrin book. Can my family member massage me as I’m severe? Is it best to see an osteo first and then do the book? I just wanna have the best chance at it. Thanks
