i used to love butter, but i seam to get diarrhea from it recently :/
so there are supplements? guess i order some

Pancreatic enzymes are needed such as for the fat. Lipase works with bile from the liver to break down fat molecules so they can be absorbed and used by the body. Deficiency can cause diarrhea and/or fatty stools.
Under inflammation bile also appears to be reduced. It seems to suggest that pancreatic enzymes would be helpful with meals during that time. https://pancan.org/facing-pancreati...cancer/diet-and-nutrition/pancreatic-enzymes/

supplements I found online, so it's good for a quick "Will supplemental butyrate make a difference?" experiment. What I don't know is whether swallowing some butter actually elevates butyrate levels in the colon. That's not clear for the various supplements either. Buy special time-delay capsules? Suppository capsules?

Eating foods with butyrate in them should help elevate levels (assuming you are absorbing them as above and the food actually is not deficient such as not grass fed for example) but supplements should be useful in that regard. Whether it requires anything special for best delivery is really speculative as I've generally found things have worked in many cases without all the hyped added absorption boosters but its good to know there are different options and plenty of people who can report what helps.

in the fecal metabolome, the % butyrate was increased in the NoPEM group compared with both the PEM and control groups ... Importantly, histone deacetylase 2 (HDAC2) was ~four fold higher and HDAC3 was ~two-fold higher, in ME/CFS cases compared with controls https://www.mdpi.com/2075-4418/9/3/70/htm

Perhaps try sodium butyrate, Butyrate also inhibits histone deacetylase activity (HDAC) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12840228 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6333934/

Previously, a molecular switch from Th2 to Th1 cell phenotype by restoring the histone acetylation at the Ifnγ and Tbx21 loci was observed for human T cells treated with HDAC inhibitors https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-32860-x Low butyrate levels may even impact energy production by decreasing the conversion of pyruvate to acetyl-CoA – the main substrate for aerobic energy production in the Krebs cycle.

Butyrate increases the enzyme that produces dopamine (tyrosine hydroxylase) which converts L-tyrosine to L-dopa. The known ability of propionate (shared with butyrate) to promote dopamine and norepinephrine synthesis by enhancing the transcription of the tyrosine hydroxylase gene , may be the mechanism underlying these molecular and behavioral effects. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16165221/ https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0006899306032719 That also is an area where people are seeing results by likely increasing their dopamine with drugs.

Wishful, I just noticed that you're from Alberta.
It occurs to me that people aren't as knowledgeable about their locales as they used to be (kind of sad). Before internet, I think people drove around more, visiting people, stopping at farms or roadside produce sellers, etc. Now people shop at big box stores with exactly the same selection as anywhere else in the country, watch the same TV shows and spend a large portion of their days following the same internet stuff. I expect that there are many people from different edges of the continent who have pretty much the same knowledge, and the same lack of knowledge of their locales.

While I live in AB, I'm not all that familiar with ranch operation or field crops. I have some more knowledge about petroleum operations and clearcutting, just by biking around and seeing wellsites or cutsites nearby. Just a few days ago there was a fracking operation going on, with a big diesel pump pushing water from my creek up a 10" hose about 3.5 km long. I observed seismic testing a few years ago, so I learned a bit about that. I don't know anything about cowboy boots or the Calgary Stampede, or whether Angus tastes better than Simmental. If I wasn't limited by ME, I might be more active in learning about my locale. Maybe.

Check the butyrate content online somewhere? To my taste buds, cheese always has registered as "Spoiled milk. Spit it out!" Thus I am not an expert in cheese.
this is interesting, i have this since a few weeks. cheese smells very milky sometimes unpleasant. it could be that the cheese in the nursing home is indeed spoiled. but maybe something did change.
also when i drink from a cup after i ate cheese and my lips touch the cup, it starts too smell really disgusting. its only after cheese.
i have been eating cheese for years, i dont know why this is now.

actually i was almost a cheese gourmet eating all kinds of cheese even the stinky ones.

It's strange, isn't it? Milk is my problem, so that's why I try to capture calcium in cheese.

I also take supplements, mg., minerals, etc. I have and have had rather severe osteoporosis since I was 40, so this is something I take seriously. I've already lost 3" and I know the worst is yet to come. Fortunately I was a good height.....still, I hardly recognize myself in photos.

I was taken off Fosamax after approx. 40 yrs........a break is needed every 5 yrs., but it wasn't known at the time. Sometimes I wonder if anyone actually looks at my meds.

And life goes on! Yours, Lenora
