Ann-Marie Högberg has had a good view of Swedish welfare, through a professional life as a nurse, municipal councilor and union president . But at the age of 72, she has discovered that the safety net she took for granted no longer exists.

She is shocked, and describes it as being met by a wall: A wall where it is welcome to go to the forest, as long as it does so according to the regulations.

The daughter fell ill
It was a few years ago that Ann-Marie's adult daughter became ill.

Her story is about being tossed between the health center (which is on sick leave), the Swedish Social Insurance Agency (which refuses sickness benefits), the Swedish Public Employment Service (which cannot offer help because it is unable to work), and the social services (which reject maintenance support due to employment).

Without income - all aid is denied
Today, the daughter is completely on sick leave , can do almost nothing, is completely without income and is denied all support and benefits.

- How is it possible that society closes all doors when you are in a desperate situation?
