Study Of Mice With Human Brain Cells Raises Ethical Concerns

There have been some studies on ME/CFIDS which have found loss of brain grey matter and defective glial cells. This might be a treatment for us in the future. I thought it was interesting because it reminded me of Planet of the Apes. Imagine if they injected a chimpanzee's brain with human glial cells?

I have no problems with human cells in a mouse being tested. None. If all our cells are sacred then we shouldn't defoliate. If all our parts are sacred then we shouldn't ever shave, get our hair cut, or cut our nails. Cells do not bother me.

Now how the mice are treated ... that might bother me depending on the details.

How living human beings are systematically treated, in medicine or otherwise, that often bothers me.

Finding cures may lead to improved human quality of life. That always has to be considered.
