i must laugh now, when i hear it...
in the light of the events, my all time most fav song couldnt have been any more bizarre..
if it was possible to like it even more now, i would ...
the signature song of my life...

I love the upbeat and determination of this one, that's how my soul feels when symptoms ease, even just a bit - the relief. I take a big breath and try to rebuild again before the next frightening plunge back to the depths.

And this next one is when my ME is at it's worst. It feels this bad alright.

This thread has great bands, great songs, great vids... I wish I could contribute... But I can say that my health went downhill at the same time as I became noise intolerant and started avoiding music. In the past 6-7 years I have enjoyed music in 2 or 3 occasions, one of them under the effect of Maca powder (but couldn't reproduce the effect anymore). Right now I have recovered from noise intolerance by getting on top of my insulin resistance issues, but haven't "craved" for music again.

Thanks Rosie
These are great choices
'I get knocked down' is now my new anthem!
Also: 'I will Survive' if anyone can find that (the chorus anyway)

"I remember
How the darkness doubled
I recall
Lightning struck itself

I was listening
Listening to the rain
I was hearing
Hearing something else"

Janelle Monae: Many Moons

We dancing free but we're stuck here underground
And everybody's trying to figure their way out
Oh Oh
Hey Hey Hey
All we ever wanted to say
Was chased, erased, and then thrown away
And day to day we live in a daze

...

You're free but in your mind;
Your freedom's in a bind

Yes, the song is explicitly about androids and implicitly about the experience of poor, probably black kids growing up the ghetto. But I think a liberation song is a liberation song. And damn can she dance! Probably my favorite music video.

Been meaning to post this. Played the CD in my car recently. And the words struck me!

Not feeling suicidal, but does seem to suggest you leave this Earth to flee the pain!

Everytbody Hurts (REM)

When your day is long
And the night, the night is yours alone
When you're sure you've had enough
Of this life, well hang on

Don't let yourself go
'Cause everybody cries
And everybody hurts sometimes

Sometimes everything is wrong
Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone (Hold on, hold on)
If you feel like letting go (Hold on)
If you think you've had too much
Of this life, well hang on

Everybody hurts
Take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts
Don't throw your hand, oh no

Don't throw your hand
If you feel like you're alone
No, no, no, you are not alone

If you're on your own in this life
The days and nights are long
When you think you've had too much of this life to hang on

Well, everybody hurts sometimes
Everybody cries
Everybody hurts sometimes
And everybody hurts sometimes

So hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
Everybody hurts

Yeah, the problem with a verse in that song is that "Everbody hurts, sometime" more like All the Time for many of us!

Warning, this video contains a lot of strobing light.

When I first became ill these are some of the songs I would listen to. They somehow made me feel better.

couldn't find the final recorded version (copyright) but this Beatles track on the White Album is sort of apt but for me with a twist as I also remember it from the morning after a party when we were all hung over and trying to clean/tidy up the house before the parents came home.
