This thread is a great idea! I hope @SOnset joins it, I find his use of music in his videos so well done.

The following would be my pick. Sorry if it is a bit on the heavy side (Wagner…) - the mesmerizing prologue to the movie "Melancholia".

No lyrics, just music and images, but some are great metaphors of what coming down with this illness is (not the least of which is the cosmic crash…)

And above all, it's as sloooooooooow as can be... Time nearly stops…

Interesting to see someone else thought of Melancholia and the opening for this thread. I almost posted that video the other week, then didn't. You beat me too it by many months!

I just had to add this song! The video is really beautiful as well.

Lyrics:

Yeah I’m sure your parents probably said it to you
Follow what you love and you will love what you do
And never let the pressure tell you that you’re not
Capable of being everything that you want.

We fall,
We fall down,
If we fall,
We fall down,
If we fall down hard I’ll be ready to grow.

I’m ready,
I’m ready for it,
I’m ready,
I’m ready for it,
I’m ready,
I’m ready for it all

If life's little downs they keep coming around
Carry on, carry on

With darkness all about, you want to scream and shout
Carry on, carry on

Don't cry baby, look at where you've been
Everybody knows you just need a friend

Please, please, please, if you're down on your knees
Carry on, carry on

Your head is full of doubt, you can't figure it out
Carry on, carry on

I see you running, don't know what you're running from
Nobody's coming, what'd you do that was so wrong?

Look back and turn back, look at yourself
Don't be afraid just look at yourself.

If you need assistance or if all you need is love
There's no point in hiding, tell me what you're frightened of

You've got a friend, just look at yourself
Don't be afraid, just look at yourself.

Look back and turn back, look at yourself
Don't be afraid just look at yourself.

Tuesday, afternoon,
I'm just beginning to see,
Now I'm on my way,
It doesn't matter to me,
Chasing the clouds away.

Something, calls to me,
The trees are drawing me near,
I've got to find out why
Those gentle voices I hear
Explain it all with a sigh.

I'm looking at myself, reflections of my mind,
It's just the kind of day to leave myself behind,
So gently swaying thru the fairy-land of love,
If you'll just come with me and see the beauty of

Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday afternoon.

Tuesday, afternoon,
I'm just beginning to see,
Now I'm on my way,
It doesn't matter to me,
Chasing the clouds away.

Something, calls to me,
The trees are drawing me near,
I've got to find out why
Those gentle voices I hear
Explain it all with a sigh.

Dancing on a sea of air

Two of the verses might not fit us, but hopefully someone will write alternative lyrics before the next round of protests.

Also I know many of us may not feel we're able to build our life back up "brick by brick." I guess I was just happy to hear a song on the radio saying anything honest about being sick.

Just Give Me a Reason by Pink and Nate Ruess

Just give me a reason, just a little bit's enough
Just a second we're not broken just bent and we can learn to love again
I never stop, you're still written in the scars on my heart
You're not broken just bent and we can learn to love again

Oh tear ducts and rust
I'll fix it for us
We're collecting dust, but our love's enough
You're holding it in
You're pouring a drink
No nothing is as bad as it seems
We'll come clean

Because of You by Kelly Clarkson

Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid

Because of you
I try my hardest just to forget everything
Because of you
I don't know how to let anyone else in
Because of you
I'm ashamed of my life
Because it's empty
Because of you
I am afraid

Memory from Cats

Memory, all alone in the moonlight
I can dream of the old days
I was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again
