If its temporary elevated it usually means an ongoing infection and high inflammation. For example with a year long chronic bronchitis in my case it was elevated to 130mm. Normal 3-10. With a mypericarditis 74. The high inflammation is usually also shown in elevated C-reactive protein (CRP).
