I believe this is a discussion of the study you're referring to, including a link to the study, led by Stanford's Jose Montoya.

Though interesting, it doesn't look like anything actionable is there yet. More stidying needs to be done.

As a patient, I've found more luck in testing to match up my results with the microbiome, metabalomics, antiviral, immune system, and autoimmune antibody work that's been done and working at treatments based on those findings.

Where is the reference paper and what specific markers do they speak of?

Cytokines don't always measure severity. Meirleir measures those already for 10 years and I saw many patients with very bad cytokines and still good functional and many patients with low cytokines and very bedridden.
