I was looking for resources recently for discounted services since I finally was able to get on the ACP (Affordable Connectivity Program) for my internet and found these in case anyone is in a similar situation with needing financial help with services and/or home repairs:

https://www.rd.usda.gov/programs-se...ams/single-family-housing-repair-loans-grants (which I found on this SITE talking about getting help with mobile home repairs...in case someone here has one of those.)

https://www.habitat.org/volunteer/near-you/home-preservation

My state's energy assistance program also offers help with emergency furnace repairs and/or furnace replacement when the furnace isn't working if a person qualifies for energy assistance.

I know they also offer home energy assessments with other helpful benefits like insulation and some minor energy saving upgrades.

This SITE also had some helpful tips like this: https://eldercare.acl.gov/Public/Resources/Brochures/docs/Home-Improvement-Scams.pdf

I also found a site recently that had a list of vetted handyman services that have reputations for being reliable and helping low income people with affordable repairs. However, I can't find it now. :( I may come back and edit this post with that link as well if I do.

And last but not least is looking for Restore locations in your area for discounted everything having to do with homes (used appliances, new and used construction materials, and even other donated furnishings at deeply discounted rates).

I know, this one is hard for those of us who are housebound but some of the stores near me post frequently on Craigslist and FB with current items and allow pay by phone and then a week (I believe) for the buyer to arrange pick up the item(s).

Anyway...just some ideas.

Just wanted to list the ones I've found so far. If anyone knows of others please feel free to post them.

Ooh and a little off topic but I found this site a couple of months back regarding patient advocates. It seems like their focus is medical financial aid but still may be helpful to someone. https://www.patientadvocate.org/

(Maybe those in other countries could post a similar thread for their locations. Hopefully, I posted this in the correct category. :))

Very good of you @Judee. I'm sure these are services that a lot of people will be happy to know about.

I remember that my mother had her furnace replaced in PA many years ago. It was a huge financial help for her and us.

Have you used any of these services? It's just good to know they're available, if not. I hope you're doing OK. L.

I've used the discount internet program...the ACP. I also have been able to get some assistance on energy costs with the energy assistance.

So far I think that's pretty much it.

I hope you're doing OK. L.

Thanks for asking. Been crashing a lot lately with my "heart tiredness" and heart pain but other than that I'm hanging in here.

Hope you are doing okay. :)
