Hi!:)

I'm doing a project at college on CFS/ME as I'm very interested in finding out more due to my mum having the illness.

I was wondering if there are any possible causes that would be helpful for me to look at? I'm trying to understand more about what might cause the illness and the link with stress.

I have so far come accross the XMRV link, HPA axis dysfunction and mitochondrial dysfunction. I was also going to look into possible gene markers for CFS/ME so any information on these would be a great help!

Hi the XMRV has been disproven (thou who knows maybe a different kind of virus is involved).

The HPA axis dysfunction and the mitochondrial dysfunction are both too good areas to research for your article.

A methylation cycle problem is another possible cause (Rich who's unfortunately not with us any more, used to write a lot about that at this site) and as far as I know there is research being arranged in this area or currently being done.
