POLL: Does the NUDITY in my CFS video offend anyone?

Thank you for doing this, Dreambirdie. The nudity isn't offensive at all. I actually didn't notice it the first time I watched the video, when you first posted it.

My favorite image accompanies the question about "30 long years..." I love the train tracks stretching endlessly into the distance.

If nudity is offensive, then all art in society will need to be banned, cameras confiscated and blindfolds installed in showers.

I'm wholly in favor of nudity. And no, I didn't notice it at all on my first viewing either.

As a general principle, I'd say that the messages of most value are those in the speaker's most authentic voice; it's impossible to have that if your goal is to never ever offend anyone.

More nudity! How about an all-naked CFS awareness video? I'm sure many of us could lounge attractively enough to have posed for Manet or Renoir.

I really, really love this video! You did such a fantastic job! You got it ALL!

I did not even notice nudity until you said to look for it. And I was watching carefully the first couple of times I saw it. But if you want to put some really GOOD male frontal nudity in it - well, I certainly won't mind. Just make sure the guy is HOT!

Seriously - never saw the nudity and if others even notice it, well, grow up and deal with it. That was art as someone said and a powerful image. Dont' change a thing.

I have to smile, the title of your post will probably draw a lot of attention and visitors to your post!

I had viewed the video earlier and had noted the slide, but the words in this video were the stars.... strong...powerful.... and the photos are backdrops running in the background. (At least this is how I processed the video.)

If that particular photo/slide stole the show, then my feelings would have been, "cheap shot" This is how I feel about some advertisements..... get their attention.....

Your words stood alone and carried the message. Nice job.

Just so you know, my intention had absolutely NOTHING to do with drawing attention to my video. In actuality, somebody DID REALLY make a comment (in a PM to me) about the "nudity" in my video possibly being a problem/obstacle for airing the video in public places. At first I thought that maybe they had my video mixed up with someone else's, because I did not think the "nudity" of that particular nude was in the least bit about about nudity at all. If you know what I mean.

I picked that photo primarily to demonstrate the weirdness and creepiness of GET and CBT. That strange beam of light from the head of the guy on the left into the naked vulnerable guy's head on the right feels like an accurate depiction of how vulnerable many CFS patients feel when they are overpowered, invalidated and manipulated by the ignorance of the medical community. So naked here has to do with powerlessness and vulnerability... at least from my perspective.

And definitely the WORDS were intended to be the stars, but the images needed to be able to carry those words and support them. Personally, I really liked that photo. It worked in the way I wanted it to, and if it gets a strong reaction from some people, then maybe that's a good thing too.

Well, I apologize for my snarky comment above -- if someone was concerned about it, that's certainly different than complaining or criticizing you for putting it in. But I can't imagine anyone having a problem with it. A hundred years ago perhaps, but not today.

Ha-- I had to watch it again, this time closely. I also did not notice the nudity the first time around, just the words, message, and, in an impressionistic way, how the images support the meaning. I want to let you guys know that is was me that mentioned it in PM to Dreambirdie. I have no problem with it. I loved the video. In fact, I was pleased to recommend the video for the cause page for our ad campaign. Dreambirdie was very gracious in letting us use it. And it is wonderful that it got so many views on the cause page.

We are also looking at having a video to be aired on T.V., in airports, etc. which would likely be shorter in time. I don't know what the standards are for such venues, so I was discussing that with Dreambirdie. I still don't know.

And yes, there are some prudes. And I live in Southeast US, so I live among them. Maybe that makes my radar too sensitive in that area. But it is not me, just what I perceive might be the view of the public.

Thank you Dreambirdie. I hope your video continues to get much exposure. It is wonderfully done. In fact, I saw it again today. Obviously, you put your heart and soul in it.

And Dreambirdie, you were kind to not announce to everyone that it was me that mentioned the issue.

I am sorry if anything I said is discouraging to any one in reference to the video. Please watch it if you haven't.
