*** Mikovits XMRV/Autism Lecture MAY be Available this Saturday, Live via Webcast

I was encouraged by a couple of folks I PM'd this to, to start up a new thread, so you don't miss this possible opportunity. Firstly, thanks so much Villagelife for your tip on the live streaming posted here: http://www.forums.aboutmecfs.org/sh...vid-Kirby-to-speak-at-Autism-Conference/page4 .

OK, I viewed (part of) one of the sessions today.

  • Yes, it is streaming live (Well, sort of. See Timing note at end of this post)
  • There are concurrent sessions at AutismOne, but only one room seems to be getting webcast.
  • The session I saw was from Salon B - Mikovits will be presenting from Salon BC (presumably the same room, expanded)
  • So it appears possible that the Mikovits session on XMRV in autism MAY be the one that streams live.
The live webcast is here: http://www.autismone.org/content/aut...streaming-live

Schedule
LOTS of interesting sessions on Friday-Sunday. You can see the full schedule here:
http://conference.autismone.org/docu..._schedules.pdf Note: I don't know if they'll always be webcasting from Salons B or BC. Here are some of the highlights:
Friday
8:00-9:00 am LaSalle BC Dr. Abha Chauhan
Increased Oxidative Stress and Inflammatory Markers in the Blood and Brain

4:00-5:00 pm Exec Forum Dr. Narasimham Parinandi
Leaky Blood Vessel and Leaky Gut: Novel Sulfur-Containing Antioxidant Therapeutics for Treatment of ASD

Saturday:
11:30 am-12:30 pm Salon BC Jenny McCarthy
KEYNOTE

3:00-4:00 pm Salon BC Dr. Judy Mikovits
XMRV

4:00-5:00 pm Exec Forum David Kirby
Metals, Myelin, Mitohondria, and Mouse Virus - Possible Paths to ASD?

5:00-6:00 pm Salon BC Dr. William Walsh
The Collision of Undermethylation, Epigenetics, and Oxidative Stress in ASD

Sunday:
11:30 am-12:30 pm Exec Forum Dr. Mark Geier & David Geier
New Important Insights into the Treatment of ASD: Understanding Genetic Testing, Heavy Metals, Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Hormonal Imbalances.

11:30 am-12:30 pm Madison Lisa Rupe & Angela Warner
Autism and Immunization in the Military

Timing: NB: When I logged on, the session I saw was playing 1 hour sooner than if should have real-time. Maybe they changed the times? Just to be safe, it might be worth logging on an hour earlier (corrected for Chicago time to your timezone), just in case things are "off" by an hour.

Tapes available after? Posted? Can someone look into this?

plus 6 hours for Uk time so 12 noon start for Dr Judy Mikovits it is 9pm start

Wait! It is plus 6 hours UK time on EST but in Chicago (central), it will be plus 7. I think. We already changed our time back in March. Did the UK already do this? Just want to make sure the time is right so our UK folks do not miss this. Ooooh, I am sooooo excited. I will be back from work (but I do need to get a provider to watch my kids so that I can watch this.)

Autism activists tend to be, well, active. I'm sure that we will get one or more blogged accounts of what she presents even if we don't get actual audio or video.

Wow:

"4:00-5:00 pm Exec Forum Dr. Narasimham Parinandi
Leaky Blood Vessel and Leaky Gut: Novel Sulfur-Containing Antioxidant Therapeutics for Treatment of ASD"

That looks interesting. Anyone heard of this before? I had always been wondering if OSR and raw garlic were doing something to close the gut and BBB... I was having a feeling they were... I need to try watching this one!

if anyone has time I recommend watching Martha Herbert's presentation - it probably won't touch on xmrv or similar, but she is just great in general, always been my fav top presenter.

also from today's list Kartzinel could be interesting/useful in terms of treatments (xover with cfs)

Kendal Stewart & Lisa Hunter Ryden I have not seen before but like the title of their presentation :))

So many interesting topics in this conference. I really want to see the one on PANDAS as this may be an issue for my son. I think I will have to get the video. It is so difficult to watch these things when my kids are around so will have to get the video. One of the fans of xmrv global action on facebook is going to this conference and will be taking notes. She said she will send them to me so will let you know if she comes back with anything of interest.

Thanks Parvo,

Thanks Natasa!

Thanks Natasa and others for the updates. Yes, there are some great presentations, aren't there? I looked @ your link Natasa, and it does look unlikely that we'll have Dr M's presentation. Geez, I was really looking forward to that. I suspect since Kirby is presenting on mouse virus too that his blog after may be illuminating. That's some consolation...:Retro smile:

I may check in "just in case" there are last minute changes...

FYI I've emailed the conference to double-check, just in case too.

joyscobby is correct... British summer time is 6 hours different to CST (CST is 5 hours different to GMT)...

So 3pm CST is 9pm British summer time.

Quick update

I just emailed the contacts @ the AutismOne store, and here is an update, with permission to post by the AutismOne folks. These are the sessions that will be streamed live, and available on CD after too:

Saturday 5/29

8:00-9:00 am Salon BC Dr. Laura Hewitson Primate Models for Testing Vaccine Safety

9:00-10:00 am Salon BC Dr. Andrew Wakefield Autism and the Vagrant in the Brainstem

10:30-11:30 am Salon BC Dr. Jeff Bradstreet The Current State of the Science

11:30 am-12:30 pm Salon BC Jenny McCarthy KEYNOTE

1:45-2:45 pm Salon BC Dr. Jay Gordon What You Should Expect from Your Pediatrician

3:00-4:00 pm NOT ALLOWED TO STREAM

4:00-5:00 pm NOT ALLOWED TO STREAM

5:00-6:00 pm Salon BC Dr. William Walsh The Collision of Undermethylation, Epigenetics and Oxidative Stress in ASD

Unfortunately, Dr Mikovits and Kirby's sessions are under the "NOT ALLOWED TO STREAM" category. That said, Kirby's talk WILL be available on DVD through here: http://www.autismone.org/content/da...itohondria-and-mouse-virus-possible-paths-asd . Also, some of the other sessions may interest you (see above). I wonder if Dr M is under a gag order until the CDC has their press release??? Could this be connected? Or might it be that she is under embargo, awaiting publication of her autism results?

Either way, if you have information on Mikovits or Kirby's XMRV talks, please ensure that it's "allowed", and won't jeopardize publication chances.

Also: The live streaming is only available when they are "On" the air. Here is the link again: http://www.autismone.org/content/autismone-conference-streaming-live
