Just watched it. Sympathetically done I thought. Well done to @charles shepherd and anyone else involved. The "making up" scene with the mother was a little contrived, but that wasn't relevant to the ME script which seemed to be portrayed fairly accurately.
"Standard American first, followed up with the British dialect" - did she say "British dialect"? British is a "dialect" of "Standard American"?
I've never said "dawg" or "coffeh".
You can help me, by telling my ex-husband that he is not suffering from a non existant illness which has been invented by the medical extablishment to cover their collective behinds.
I like the way that they put the BPS bullshit in the mouth of an unbearably annoying woman, who everyone else, ie patient, patient's daughter/carer, patient's doctor, just ignored until she got more sensible. That's the way it should be, and now 2 million viewers have been shown the correct response to such nonsense.
Also nobody threatened to kill her, and she never claimed anyone threatened to kill her, and she didn't orchestrate a media campaign or get to decide national policy and ruin the lives of thousands. The writers probably realised that a storyline like that would be much too far-fetched for their lunchtime audience.
I haven't looked yet but, is there any way to give the BBC some positive feedback? Let them know that the 'vocal few' think they've actually got it right this time?
