Liver/Immune results anyone?

Hi All

I know ME/CFS shouldnt do it but I've always seemed to have liver/immune abnormalities when my fatigue is worst. During my last episode which was quite bad I had hepatitis (AST 700+) and immune activity (elevated ESR, C-reactive protein and metamyelocytes). I've seen a lot of doctors and had tests for various viruses / autoimmune things and several ultrasound/CT scans all producing nothing. The last specialist thought it might be down to 'intercurrent viruses'. I was just wondering about other people's experiences with similar 'unexplained' results. I've heard of some people's ME/CFS being kicked off by viral hepatitis and even hepatitis B vaccines?

Hi Emma have you had these test results on more then one occasion? if so could you let me know. they point to other things then viruses and hepatitis and have nothing to do with CFS and i might be able to narrow it down for you. All the Best

Its a pattern that seems to have been happening since i got a gastro which kicked off my cfs some years ago. Its frustrating because the docs order all sorts of tests that end up not showing much. Basically what seems to happen when i get run down is the liver enzymes (ALT/AST ALT higher) shoot up, sometimes with metamyelocytes if its really bad, then in the following weeks the liver results drop off slowly with myelocytes and other white blood cells turning up (neutrophils?) with relatively low increases to ESR & CRP. These spikes seem to happen every few months but during the periods when ive been most well they're barely detectable. Docs thinking its intercurrent viruses some chronic infection or some immune thing. Really just wondering if other people have had similar 'spurious' results with cfs?

Hi Emma, i,ve got a possible answer for you I ran increased ALT, AST, ESR, and CRP through diagnostic software and it came up with 4 possible conditions, one that stands out is brucellosis, it's a bacterial infection that can cause gastro symptoms and becomes a chronic infection causing fatigue, bone pain depression etc, etc,

Thanks heaps rlc - thats a pretty useful website! im pretty sure the doc did the brucellosis test but I'll definitely check it out!
