I feel like I've taken every supplement known to humans at one point or another. These days I've narrowed it all down to a few essentials:

Ester-C - 1000mg x3
Co-Q 10 - 100mg x2
Gamma E - 400IU
Vit. D3 - 2400IU x2
Magnesium - 400mg + whatever I get from Epsom salt foot baths
Probiotics - mostly acidophilus & bifidus
Zinc carnosine - helps heal stomach lining from gastritis caused by a course of methylprednisolone I had to take once
Capillaris Combination - traditional chinese herb formula to help with liver/gall
experimenting with Cordyceps - immunomodulator, anti-fatigue, not sure if I'm reacting allergically yet or not
melatonin - 3-9mg.

I don't tolerate most B vitamins, or I would definitely take those. B5 cranks up my immune system, and B-12 makes me feel a little wired and drains my adrenals. B2 doesn't seem to do anything, but I don't want to take just that or B6 alone and create B imbalances. I'm also folate deficient, but taking folate makes me really depressed for some reason, before it wears off. I think it has to do with methylation pathways.

Thanks for the information, Alesh. I haven't heard of these, but I will ask my doctor to prescribe them.

These are what's helping me (originally Dr Myhill's protocol, which I've added a few extras on to... I think it's an orchestrated, long-term effort... After 2 years on these I've made huge improvements - especially recently.)

First thing: (sports supplements)

L-Glutamine 5g
Branch Chain Amino Acids 5g
Vitamin C 1g

(and rice cakes for carbohydrates - helps deliver amino acids to muscles)

Morning: (based on Myhill's protocol)

D-Ribose 1x teaspoon
Acetyl-L-Carnitine 1g
VegEPA (Omega 3 and 6) 2x tablets
Niacinamide 500mg
CoQ10 100mg
BioCare Adult Multivitamin (quality vitamin supplement with full B complex)
Vitamin D3 1000ug
Folapro 1/4 tablet
Folinic Acid 100mg
Hydroxo-B12 1mg (taken nasally)
Maca root powder 1g (recent addition - pleasantly energising; balances hormones. Maybe better taken later into regime as high in L-Arginine. Could worsen EBV?)

Mid-day pick-me up:

D-Ribose 1x teaspoon
Malic Acid 1g
L-Glutamine 5g
Vitamin C 1g

Throughout the day

Myhill's Magic Minerals mixed with water (very useful full spectrum mineral powder)

Evening

L-Glutamine 5g
Branch Chain Amino Acids 5g
Acetyl-L-Carnitine 1g
Vitamin C 1g
VegEPA (omega 3) 2x tablets

Bedtime drink

D-Ribose 1x teaspoon
Myhill's Minerals 1x level teaspoon

I think each one plays an important part in the big picture. There's nothing I'd consider cutting at the moment, although I'm cutting down on the Folapro as I'm not sure whether I still need it. (I started out 6 months on a higher dose of CoQ10 btw. I'd tested with low levels, so was recommended 300-400mg/day to get levels up, then a 100mg/day maintenance dose. I think I cut own to 200mg and eventually to 100mg over a slightly longer period though. Remember not to use up any extra energy! Helps to go to bed each night not feeling too tired - that's when the body gets into healing: when it's not over-stressed.)

(Plus I'm on a low lectin, wheat, dairy and sugar-free diet. Everyone should check for Lectin problems: tomatoes, beans, peas, etc. Think they're way too overlooked. Expect some symptoms to get worse when you discover a food intolerance - it's probably the immune system kicking in. Supplements are just one piece of the puzzle for me. Another part is keeping my Control Pause above 35 seconds with the Buteyko Technique, which I do for a few minutes each morning and night. Yeah, expensive and pretty committed! But getting tangible and very consistent results now.)

Lmao. I saw your other thread Alesh, I too don't believe you can be cured by supplements but they can help in some areas such as a boost to certain areas such as immunity.

Hope that troparil works out for you :D

After reading the dosages of Coenzyme Q10 ranging around the 100-150mg mark I decided to check how much I was taking. My super expenses Wassen brand was 10mg, my Boots wn brand was 30mg a time. So, I'm upping my dosage to 60mg twice a day with food and see how I go. I've stopped my other sups to see how it goes over Christmas.

This has been a really enlightening thread, thanks everyone, Katie

I sometimes didn't notice anything even at 100mg. and had to bump it to 200mg to get a perceived benefit. When I first took it, I even stopped taking it altogether, thinking it wasn't doing anything. But then a few weeks later I noticed I definitely felt worse and added it again to noticeable benefit.

But take it slow by all means. Just know that if you are underdosing you might not see any results, or else they might be very subtle at lower dose.

In the US I now use Jarrow brand co-q 10 - very good quality and price. Also, some people do better with ubiquinol instead of co-q 10, so that's something to consider, too. :)

Thanks for the heads up, I'll consider ramping it up in a month or two. I've looked up ubiquinol, my ignorance abounds, and I'll consider that too. I've been doing a new sleep routine for a week and a half now and I'm already feeling better, at least 5% difference and the absence of a lot of symptoms until late in the day. I'm not sleeping past midday either, though it's early days and a lot of overdoing it over Christmas is to come.

Just taken my second 60mg dose. Happy days. :)

Crazy isn't it. I picked up some 10mg Q10 early on. Expensive and virtually useless... My specialist finds Q10 deficiencies can need as much as 400mg/day for at least a few months. 100mg's considered a maintenance dose.

I was reading other threads which mentioned people feeling 'speedy' on higher doses which I guess is deficiency dependent. I have no idea how low I am but as I think I'm feeling benefit (though I'm sleeping better, even when I'm waking lots, the sleep in between is better) who knows, the Q10 might be helping my sleep too. I'm rambling now, I'll see how this goes. 120mg for now but with the option of going up in units of 30mg.

L-glutamine - 9 grams daily
Creatine - 5 grams 3 X week before exercising
Dibencozide B12 - 1/2 lozenge every other day
Methyl B12 - 1/2 lozenge every other day
Folate - 800 mcg. every other day
Cranberry extract - as needed for bladder pain X 3 days
Curcumin - 500 mgs. every other day
Magnesium Citrate - 170 mgs. 3 X daily
Pregnenolone - 5 mgs. 3 X weekly
Benfotiamine - 150 mgs. daily
Probiotics - 1-2 caps daily
Potassium chelate - 99 mgs. daily
Ubiquinol - 50 IUs 2 X weekly
B-Right B Complex - 1 daily
Epicor - 500 mgs. every other day
Neptune Krill Oil - 900 mgs. daily
Vitamin D3 - 8,000 IU daily

Note: For those who are unfamiliar with them, Epicor is an immune modulator proven to increase NK cells. Benfotiamine is a lipidized form of vit. B1 that puts uveitis (a serious eye infection from Lyme Disease) into complete remission as long as you keep taking it.

Hi Coxy.

My doctor has advised me to take 200 mg of Co Q10. his view is that it is very important as an antioxidant in CFS. I've definitely noticed that when I don't take it I can notice it. Dr Myhill and a few others also suggest it from 100-200 mg. The only person who seems to be against it at the moment that I am aware off is Doctor Cheney.

I was originally on 400 mg for two months as I had very low levels according to my doctor.

One caution in case it's applicable I have a reaction to sunflower seeds, and Co Q10 usually comes in a sunflower oil base. there are also other bases available such as olive oil to get around the problem.

thankyou, i'll keep up with what i'm doing then. Although since taking the supplements (i started only a couple of months ago[) i didn't really notice any improvement, when i stopped after approx 6 weeks (mainly due to money issues and whether they were working or not)i felt terrible and quickly went back on them. I'm talking abouty when i stopped the co q10, l-carnitine & d-ribose. i have been on all the others for 2 years, the enada made a big difference to me when i first started taking it. My main problems are cognitive issues and joint problems that come and go. I'm having to go it alone as my doctor doesn't believe/follow Dr sarah myhills regime.QUOTE=xlynx;38380]Hi Coxy.
