This list was last refreshed on 1st August 2011.

I've aimed to make this a comprehensive list, hopefully including all of the high profile studies relating to XMRV/CFS, but there maybe studies that I've overlooked.

Any suggestions for additional info, corrections and improvements are very welcome.

Within each category, the papers are listed in order of the date of publication.

Detection of infectious XMRV in the peripheral blood of chronic fatigue syndrome patients in the United Kingdom.

Mikovits et al.
(WPI)
Initial results reported to be about 80% positive for XMRV in UK ME patients, and 6-8% positive in the UK blood supply.

Detection of MLV-like gag sequences in blood samples from a New York state CFS cohort
Maureen R Hanson, Li L Lee, Lin Lin, David E Bell, David Ruppert and David S Bell
Initial reported results = 80% of 10 patients currently meeting Fukuda criteria tested positive for MLV-related sequences, and 1% of healthy controls. (Reportedly finding PMRV rather than XMRV.)

An extract from:
Of Mice and Men: A Summary of the First International XMRV Workshop.
by K. Kimberly McCleary with Steven H. Kleinman, BSc, MD, and Suzanne D. Vernon, PhD.
Dr. Hansons study tested samples obtained by David S. Bell from 20 CFS patients, 10 of whom reported having recovered but still demonstrated lower physical activity levels than the 10 healthy control subjects as measured by seven instruments employed by Dr. Bell. Of these 20 CFS patients, 11 (55%) were positive; 8 (80%) of the 10 patients currently meeting Fukuda criteria and 3 (30%) of the individuals who had recovered tested positive, compared to 1 (10%) of the 10 healthy controls. The gag sequences found by Dr. Hanson were more similar to those reported by Lo et al., than to the gag sequences for XMRV, although all are part of the same gammaretrovirus family. Her group is working to sequence the env sequence and the entire virus genome(s) now that they have external funding support from NIH.

No Association of Xenotropic Murine Leukemia Virus-Related Viruses with Prostate Cancer

May 4, 2011
PLoS ONE

"Also, the finding of a viral strain in three prostate cancer patients that is distinct from the XMRV seen in previous studies is significant and demonstrates a broader viral diversity. This would be an expected result consistent with virus evolution during spread and persistence."

http://www.retrovirology.com/content/8/S1/A235
Conclusion:
"Given the evidence of inter-tropic recombination in MuLV, detection and classification of recombination in XMRV using different MuLV tropism prototypes should be interpreted with caution ... These results suggest that identification of parental strains of the potential recombinants is difficult and that recombination in the highly genetically related MuLV have been occurring for some time."

I've also attached the list as a PDF file, which will be updated regularly.

Hi jace,
Thank you,
Yes, anyone can repost it anywhere, preferably with a link to this thread so that people can check for updated versions.
It's not quite finished yet, so there maybe some tidying up, corrections and additional info.

Bob,
Nice list.

You left out the key WPI patent: http://www.wipo.int/patentscope/sea...lter=&sortOption=&queryString=&tab=PCT+Biblio

This is a very broad provisional patent, I can't tell from the listing whether a permanent patent has been granted, this may still be provisional (although that usually only lasts for one year so they must be extending somehow). The WPI has patented all their original XMRV assays and even patented treatment of XMRV with any antivirals.

Thanks for that Kurt... I've added it.

And there's also a new patent application here, which I've also added:

2 upcoming studies...

Yes, great list, thanks for compiling and posting it Bob.

I was wondering what are the two 'big' studies that folks keep talking about that aren't finished yet? One I guess is due at the end of the year, and then the other in 2012?

thanks.

The BWG (Blood Working Group) study, results expected this summer.
The Lipkin study, results expected by the end of 2011.

So both should appear this year, though I wouldn't be surprised they are delayed. Such things happen a lot.

I added a large number of studies yesterday, added some categories, renamed some categories, and updated the PDF file.

If anyone spots anything obvious that is missing from the list, then I'd be really grateful for any feedback.

Looks like a ton of work! You want feed back? ut-oh you asked for it!

It might be nice to have a clean thread, pdf or whatever, that outlines all the flawed logic, arguments, and unanswered questions around XMRV? All in plain english? Bob's effort at an unbiased view anyways...

I know you addressed many of those recently on various threads, but they kind of got buried in a very long thread towards the end. Everybody has such a lowsy memory it could also serve as a good reference.

Just a thought. It might be asking too much considering all you have done already.

And then when you are done with all that! A magazine, journal,TV station would be nice...

Hmm.... well, yes, you're right, I did ask for suggestions!

I have been thinking about writing a blog/discussion about all the aspects of XMRV contamination, and this list was compiled in part to help me with that.

I don't know if it will ever get done, because I've got to prioritise my list of things to do, but in the mean time, I suppose I could collate all of my recent posts re contamination, and post them in new blog or a new thread, in case helpful...

That could be a good idea. Thanks for the suggestions mark!

How would you determine which arguments are flawed? There is conflicting evidence, which I think muddies the water for determining which logic or arguments are flawed. Maybe better to outline the conflicting arguments without passing judgment as to which are flawed.
