Is tinnitus a barometer on how severe ME people feel.

you can try putting a warm washcloth over your closed eyes for a minute or two and see if that helps. just make sure to not burn yourself.
Hi bad1080, thank you for the idea. In fact, I tried that, but it resulted in big eczemas all around the eyes that took a looong time to heal. My skin doesn't want the water 🤷🏼‍♂️. What I do do sometimes is apply a pad filled with cherry stones that I keep in the freezer, with a clean cotton handkerchief underneath for hygiene.
The doctor has prescribed me Hypermellose eye drops and they provide welcome relief
I use eye drops that contain sodium hyaluronate, they work for me half of the time, I'd say.

Same with me - tinnitus is my early warning system. It usually comes along with dry, itchy eyes, I just fond the eyes a bit less annoying, so it's always my tinnitus that makes me stop.

yeah the eye thing, like Don up there said it feels like a slight chemical burn but nothing got in them. Still haven't gotten to the bottom of that one.

The stinging eyes are one of the things that make me think that what we suffer from has viral origin. Shingles and Glandular Fever believe it or not can both affect the eyes.

I got tinnitus with covid, pulsatile tinnitus - but for me I currently feel worse than I did before my last infection and I now have no tinnitus at all whereas I had it when I felt better. So for me not so much.

I don't have tinnitus, but definitely do have ME/CFS. Usually when I'm overdoing it, I will get a warning of sorts, something will say, slow down or stop - IF I'm paying attention . . . I can pretty much feel my energy going.

It must be highly localized reduction in flood flow, since my tinnitus doesn't disappear when I'm physically active and my heart is pumping fast.

My high-pitched tone happens with dust mite exposure on my skin. So, I spend an inordinate amount of time doing laundry for fresh sheets and clothes.

Me, I think it's both blood flow and other triggers, like noise or cognitive or emotional engagement.
It also comes with my orthostatic intolerance - the moment I stand up, my tinnitus is at its maximum. Then I get dizzy and I nearly faint, so I have to sit down and wait till it's passed.
And when I'm in pem, it's always there.

Hi @Rooney -- Thanks for sharing that. But I have to ask, "How in the world did you ever figure that out??!!". I've spent a lot of time on the tinnitustalk forum, and have never heard anything about dust mites exacerbating tinnitus. Kudos to you for figuring it out!

Hi @Wayne, I always enjoy your posts. I was told that dust mites are my only allergy. As an example, toward the end of a week when it’s about time to change my sheets, my skin has burning sensations, and I get ringing in my ears. They come together. Inflammation increasing in my head?

Another connection I have made is that three years of allergy shots did little to move the needle on my allergy. But taking herbs like Berberine and peppermint gel caps did improve it. Those were taken for SIBO!

I’ve never had tinnitus before with ME
I suspect I get it when I get a Covid infection this being the main symptom then it disappears
Not had it for a while and never had it pre Covid
