Hydroxocobalamin and erectile dysfunction

Good morning,

since Hydroxocobalamyn is a nitric oxyd scavenger, could get erectile dysfunction worse?

Thanks

Daniel

No, probably not.

Vitamin B12 in the blood is usually "protected" by a protein called trans-cobalamin.
Transcobalamin prevents B12 from interacting with other molecules in the blood, such as nitric oxide.

Transcobalamin releases the B12 when the B12 enters a cell.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

didn't understant so much...Hydroxocobalamyn decreased my NO blood value (tested with bood exam). So if nitric oxyd is important for erection...why sould not impact ?
Thanks

Daniele

I'm sorry, I hope the following is clearer:

Vitamin B12 in the blood is usually protected by a protein called transcobalamin.

Transcobalamin releases the vitamin B12 when the vitamin B12 enters a cell.

Transcobalamin prevents vitamin B12 from interacting with other molecules in the blood, such as nitric oxide. Therefore, vitamin B12 normally doesn't affect nitric oxide in the blood.

However, if you take very large doses of vitamin B12, there may not be enough transcobalamin in the blood to protect all the vitamin B12 molecules. In this case, it is possible that vitamin B12 will interact with other molecules in the blood.

Thanks,

but if Hydroxocobalamyn scavenges Nitric oxyd in the blood , means that interact with other molecules and so may worse erectile function ?

Good morning Pyrrus,

sorry for my insistence...just wanted to know if what you explained me is valid even if I saw decreasing NO level in my blood by testing ...after taking Hydroxocobalamyn

It depends upon how much vitamin B12 you took. If you take a very high dose, there will not be enough transcobalamin to protect the vitamin B12 in the blood. In this case, it might "scavenge" the Nitric Oxide.
