I am in the US and we do not have enough available to us. When I first got sick I was a single mom. I applied for help and could only receive food stamps. Many things have changed for me I do get disability from Social Security now, but it is not as much as I would have thought after working for 30 years. If you get SSDI as an American the most you can get right now is $2,400 a month and that is if you are a top earner. Medicaid costs according to how much you make.

A few years ago I looked into a Catholic nursing home, where I can keep my own car and furniture. They will take me if I am still in need when my daughter is grown.
