Has anyone tried Phage therapy?

Recently there has been a lot of talk about Phage therapy. This is the selective phage therapy which targets very specific strain of bacteria and kills nothing else but that bacteria.
Has anyone tried it? It sounds alot less damaging then the regular antibiotics providing the patient's exact phage match is found.

Here is a short clip from Yale school of medicine:

The Russians have been doing this for quite some time and seem to be the experts in it. They generally need to know what bacteria is causing the issues then they match the specific phage for that bacteria. There are some general phages available that can get to a number of bacteria, some of the Russian companies sell phages on Amazon.. There is a Facebook group for phage therapy.

Of a side note, I read a journal article about research into how certain foods can increase natural phage activity.

Yes I have also heard there is a clinic in Georgia(not the state of Georgia in USA, this is the country of Gerogia which was a part of the old USSR) where they offer Phage therapy... but it's just a clinic and their funding is very limited..... I am also hearing in USA there is a place that tries to find an exact match for the strain of bacteria (it could take months or years before that exact match is found) and then once the match is found they will prepare a cocktail for the patient and send to them.... What's exciting about this is normally a person that has for example Mycrobacerium Abssesus needs to take antibiotics for 1-2 years and the success rate varies from 25-80% and has to deal with lots of side effects for the long term use of antibiotics where as Phage therapy takes only 2 weeks and does not have as much side effects....

I just ordered a gastrointestinal product which is actually just phages. These 4 phages are found in a variety of products. I am presuming that these 4 are of the more common (widely used) one. Cost was $23.

Study showing results and safety https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30157383/

Another discussion of phages from an expert. https://www.longdom.org/proceedings...maintaining-healthy-gut-microflora-25851.html

Product I ordered contains 4 phages which are LH01-Myoviridae, LL5-Siphorviridae, T4D-Myoviridae and LL12-Myoviridae.

That's not the phage therapy that we are talking about in this thread. We are talking about real phage therapy done by finding an exact Phage match for the specific bacteria using sophisticated lab testing..

I understand that point, but in my case, I don't have the kind of resources available to fly to the Ukraine and have testing done.. The reward to risk ratio is favorable for me for this product. For those in the US, there is a new clinic at UCSD. Sorry if my post does not belong on this thread.

What kind of testing?

From what I understand, identification is preferred so that the specific phages can be administered. However if a person does not know what is the offending organism then it may be a crap shoot. I know for myself that I have a gut based organism and I have done a multitude of testing with no clear answers. The phages you can buy online in the US are the same formulation (PreforPro) which targets e-coli.

I was told that the clinics are not seeing patients due to Covid.

There are a number of reputable manufacturers of phage products, this is a list:

Hip started a thread in 2015 that has good information.
