Gluten and Cystitis

After years of stomach problems I decided to cut gluten out of my diet, and I've also eliminated milk, reduced butter, but I still take cheese. There has been an improvement in the stomach problems. However, back in the nineties I tried a wheat free diet, and stuck to it rigorously, and on the odd occasion I broke the diet (pizza usually), I had cystitis. I gave up the wheat free diet eventualy, and had cystitis for a while before it finally went away. It was difficult to avoid wheat products at the time (health was poor, and visiting others). So more than twenty years later I'm on a complete gluten free diet, which I accidentally broke early on with the wrong yeast, and I had about two months of cystitis even though I was back on the strict gluten free diet immediately. I just wonder if anyone else has noticed a problem like this occurring in relation to gluten. I've had cystitis on and off over the past twenty odd years since the wheat free diet, but not two months long. I've been fine since though and the diet itself is pretty easy to keep to since I don't eat out.

I've had ME since 1985, but I can't say that stomach problems have been an issue all along, because that's not been the case and I've tended to have a healthy diet for most of those years.
