Here is a latest interview with Jack Andraka. 3 Cents for a pancreatic cancer test with 100% sensitivity, this kid is great. But do you know whats funny? It takes him 5-10 years(!) till he can get it to the market because of all the regulations, that are put onto him. He also says that the regulation needs to be reformed.
That's why he has to cooperate with other pharma companies but it still takes several years, till the test becomes available. The huge mistake people make, when they talk about how justified government regulation in the medical field is, is to forget about what cannot be seen. Sure, when the test comes out, it will be reviewed, controlled etc. but how many millions of people die of cancer because the test is not available today, although it works perfectly?
