Back again.
I haven't been on for a couple of months. I got diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in june. I'm now currently on steroids but tapering down and hydroxychloroquine. I felt full of energy on steroids but I feel tired, teary, nausea, sweating, pains everywhere and starting to feel depressed and down again. My bloods are ok apart from high ggt. I'm starting to think cancer somewhere that's spread.

@Fuzzyhead - the hydroxychloroquine might be harming your liver. That might be the cause of your high ggt. And if your liver is being harmed, that can make you feel awful. What does your doctor say about your high ggt?

And the hydroxychloroquine may be causing other effects (see link below) - it could be why you feel so awful.

Here's a link to the side (actual) effects of hydroxychloroquine: https://www.rxlist.com/plaquenil-side-effects-drug-center.htm#consumer You'll note that they include:
Hepatobiliary disorders : Liver function tests abnormal, hepatic failure acute.
as well as a ton of other stuff. And here's a study: https://journals.lww.com/ajg/Abstra...oroquine_Induced_Acute_Liver_Injury.2307.aspx

You might find this interesting - rheumatoid arthritis (and other autoimmune illnesses) being possibly reversed with baking soda: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/04/180425093745.htm#:~:text=2-,Drinking baking soda could be an inexpensive, way to combat autoimmune disease&text=Summary:,like rheumatoid arthritis, scientists say.

My sister who has RA like you tried taking 1/2 teaspoon baking soda first thing every morning on an empty stomach for a month, and found that her flares stopped. She still had some pain but not the flares. I think she said it caused her stomach to bloat however, so she is going to try doing it at night. The empty stomach part is important because baking soda will neutralize stomach acid. She does get by with 5 mg. prednisone and Advil once or twice a day.
