In response to a question regarding the connection between fibromyalgia and CFS, Dr. Klimas says the connection is not well understood. She goes on to say "Your own insight into your illness is very helpful." For me, that simple statement is the sign of a good doctor! If only they weren't so rare.

Thank you for finding and sharing this article, always interesting to hear some quality discussion.
How weird to hear talk of HIV and CFS in the same article, that just a few months ago would have
been unheard of due to the disbelief of every single person with the label.

The New York Times has another article with Dr. Klimas answering questions about XMRV/CFS and other co-morbid conditions.

Please read it and make a comment (scroll down) on the NYT website. Thank Dr. Klimas for her time and the NYT for continuing to cover CFS. The main qualm I have with the article is their use of "chronic fatigue" rather than "chronic fatigue syndrome"! Usually, the NYT is pretty good about using CFS.

*For those outside the US, the New York Times is more or less the most influential paper in the US and is read internationally as well.

Please comment on the NYT website (scroll down) if possible. The NYT is the most influential newspaper in the US. Pls. ask the NYT to change the title to "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" rather than chronic fatigue. Up to this time, the NYT has done a generally good job of using "CFS" and not just chronic fatigue. This is part of what has slowed or stopped CFS research for decades. The confusion is also evident in the variety of comments from readers.
