I couldn't find any reference to this on the forum. Apologies if it is already posted and I missed it.

It is not new (1995), is not a peer reviewed article, and I have not read it. But somebody whose opinion on this stuff I respect has and said it contains some good material.

Sorry, have not read it, currently looking at de-conditioning studies. All I can suggest is the Discussion section and Conclusion (Section 5, pages 53-8). Bottom line seems to be that:

"Overall, patients with FSS were remarkably similar to non-FSS diseased patients in their psychological characteristics. There was no identifiable FSS personality shared by syndromes."
