CDC purportedly guarantees testing for all re COVID-19, regardless of insurance - see video with Katie Porter

Under questioning yesterday (March 12) by Rep. Katie Porter (democrat from California), CDC director Robert Redfield agreed to provide free COVID-19 testing for everyone, regardless of insurance. He appeared to try to dodge the question as much as possible, but finally gave a simple "yes". She was persistent!

According to California Governor Newsom...and a related LA Times article, there is a reagent necessary to execute corona testing and this reagent is in short supply, one main supplier....is backordered and supplying multiple countries.

So until this chemical is available, very little testing can occur.

Amazing video @Mary and I Iove Rep Katie Porter. God Bless You, Katie, and you just saved many lives. All I can say is, “Nevertheless, she persisted”.

Everyone who is clinically appropriate should be tested for Covid19 regardless of their insurance status and now they can.

The House voted 363-40 early on Saturday to pass a coronavirus relief package, a move that came after the World Health Organization declared the virus a pandemic. The bill includes free virus testing for those who lack insurance, paid sick leave, family and medical leave programs, enhanced unemployment benefits, additional food aid and federal funds for Medicaid.

The House passed a sweeping relief package to assist people affected by the outbreak, after a roller-coaster day of negotiations on Friday, and it now goes to the Senate.

Talks threatened to veer off track as President Trump criticized the plan during a White House Rose Garden news conference in which he declared a national emergency. Instead, by dusk, Speaker Nancy Pelosi wrote to House Democrats saying they had reached an agreement with the administration, and Mr. Trump later tweeted that he would sign the bill “ASAP!”
