There is stuff being done underground along the 15 right now but I don't know if power lines are involved.
In SDGE's favor they did step up tree trimming in the fire prone areas but the mandatory power shut offs during high winds is controversial.
I lost track of- did the new massive transmission lines get approved, because its a long term thing and then: all these recent fires were mostly utility driven. But we also- don't build the correct wires. They are insulated enough, for instance.

I watched a bird get within 3 feet of a wire, it never touched it- eletricity arched, came out, trees all around the poor bird spooked as it got into the zapping vapor.

Current fires are mostly lightening, natural source. 2008: this happend all over the place as well.

When I grew up- up north, it burned for one fall for months and months and it was nothign but smoke. Burning for months- happens.

It's so sad how much the fires have changed in the last few years. Lived in So cal for over 4 decades, but it's only been the last few years that they are sooooooo different and see how the land is changed for the foreseeable future. I was thinking of moving up from Co cal to Sonoma/Napa area but it's been so bad there with fires, I don't know how. And I doubt one could even get fire insurance. I know alot of homes and places down here, you just can't get it if your in a fire area or a more rural area. And I would love to live with more land around. I'm really someone who would love a farm or ranch (but pet style ranch, farm, not working one). Not that i could do that sort of thing now. Anyways, rambling.....but its so sad all the fires. People losing so much and all the animals killed and environment ruined. It's just a shame to see what damage humans do to nature and to all that is beautiful in the world. I wish I had a hack for smoke, but I only keep my windows closed and central air on if i have it with a good filter. But, only does so much.
