Books on ME/CFS

Realized I have like $15 of Amazon Kindle credits expiring today. Any health books you'd recommend? I can get fiction from the library, but they don't have some of the CFS type stuff.

Also, why are Goldstein books priced at like $60 in the Kindle edition? Seems offensive for people who are on limited incomes with limited abilities. I have Betrayal of the Brain, but was vaguely interested in the Limbic book. I also would rather have it digitally as Betrayal is tough for me to hold and read for longer periods, plus I can't search quickly.

Anyways, let me know if any recommendations. I kinda hate the books that promise to eradicate ME/CFS because I probably already know and have tried everything in them. Yes I used D-Ribose, sure I ate AIP Paleo, of course I practice good sleep hygiene and vit

I'm a "collector" of many of these books....right from the Lake Tahoe Outbreak, before and after. I refer to them, even if they are older and "out of date." Some authors have been exquisitely careful, thus their books are always readable.

May I suggest that you ask your local library to get the book you want. I live in a city and find the libraries will often get anything I may need. I don't have the limbic book you're talking about, but there have been others that cover the same area of the brain. Anyway, it won't cost you a dime through the library.....I must have 15 myself. Some are so/so, others are very good.

You're right....I use common sense when it comes to vitamins, supplements, etc. We don't want our bodies to get out of balance....the same goes for eating and drinking. It does all get more complicated as we get older and it's important to keep up on the latest data. I have a "thing" where I buy new books and then keep them...oh, certain ones are sent to the nursing home up the way or the library, but that is a particular hang-up of mine....call me crazy! We book people tend to have our hang-ups! Some part of the brain. Yours, Lenora

I found this place that lets you borrow a book for an hour. It looks like they have the limbic one though I didn't try to log in and make sure it's available. https://archive.org/details/chronicfatiguesy0624gold

I've used the service before though so it was helpful to me on at one occasion. If I remember correctly I think you actually see pictures of the pages (see attached) rather than a true digital book so maybe it wouldn't have a word search feature but at least it would maybe give you an idea if the book would be worth it to you to purchase.

Amazon.com also lets you download a free sample of that book though maybe you've already done that.

Yeah, I've recommended the Goldstein books to my library (last year I think) but they haven't gotten them yet.

Interesting option - wasn't aware of the hourly borrowing. Could be useful to look up specific things.
