On 14th January 2018, Dr Myhill complained to the Chair of the General Medical Council [GMC] , Sir Terence Stephenson, about the authors of the PACE study [Comparison of adaptive pacing therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, graded exercise therapy, and specialist medical care for chronic fatigue syndrome (PACE): a randomised trial]:

I completely support this complaint. The PACE PIs and the stable from which they were born has impacted the lives of everyone with this disease for the worst. Ironically my disease first started in 1970, the year Beard and McEvedy decided to re-write the Royal Free outbreak as 'hysteria' without even examining a single patient. In that one paper a whole new paradigm of abuse was created which has subsequently spawned this malicious cabal who, under the pretence of 'medical science', have created a body of work, including the demolished PACE Trial, that denigrates a whole population by producing a regimen which pretends that a serious neuro-immune disease can be ameliorated by behavioural interventions. Thankfully the academic world is cottoning on to the fact that the PACE Trial (and other trials my members of the same cabal) bears little scrutiny but it is important that the GMC responds to what academia now acknowledges and censures the people at the heart of this charade. In my opinion the PACE PIs have contravened every entry that the GMC considers necessary to constitute being a 'good doctor'. Surely the GMC needs to act accordingly with respect to the PACE PIs and remove their GMC registrations? They have done nothing but harm the ME community and their inability to practice would be medicine's gain.

@Mary the letters of complaint about the harm inflicted on patients as a direct or indirect result of the PACE trial is open to anyone in the world, so it must be that the petition is as well. PACE has had repurcussions world-wide so it is only right that every patient can sign.Dr Myhill has stated that she has opened the complaint to people in every country.
