Using Stimulants in ME/CFS? The Adderall Debate!

I wonder if it's adrenal fatigue. I'm not getting any punch from modafinil but if I use 5-10mg hydrocortisone it works. So currently I'm running some adrenal and adaptogen herbs to try and rebuild them back up. I'm doing things step by step. I was on pregnenolone and dhea but dropped the...

Using Stimulants in ME/CFS? The Adderall Debate!

I eventually developed problems with these too. For some unknown reason both Provigil and Nuvigil now cause me to crash. They used to be great at keeping me (somewhat) awake during the day but not anymore. :grumpy: ...it's not a big loss though. They were both very expensive so I was happy to...

T3 Monotherapy for ME/CFS or FM?

@Hip this one is particularly relevant to us it seems, as Dr Lowe (the first one mentioned) mainly treated FM (with success though apparently). Sorry to quote the full section on Dr Skinner but it is all quite fascinating. The protocol @Judee mentioned was developed by Dr Wilson to treat what...

They turned down the Provigil, too. I bought it myself, then never took the other nine and a half pills I own.

Using Stimulants in ME/CFS? The Adderall Debate!

...this is an old thread, but couldn't find a whole lot on stimulants. Does anyone continue to have success with stimulants? I tried Adderall & Provigil, and they gave me a small physical boost, but worse PEM and crashes, so not worth it to me. I didn't give them a whole lot of time though, for...

    Study on Medical Gaslighting

I've heard people say some version of, "I wouldn't wish this illness on my worst enemy." Well, they're better people than I am, as I hope every single one of those people come down with severe ME/CFS and get to experience that same gaslighting, ostracism, and loss of respect. It's truly cruel...

It was very strange, the phone call my Doctor made, in an attempt to 1) get my insurance to OK Provigil; and 2) show me how he will never be making such calls again. His time completely wasted. FDA Approves Pitolisant for Daytime Sleepiness in Patients with Narcolepsy

There have been various theories and most somehow involve Dopamine but its not really understood conclusively. More likely your brain is not producing Orexin yet. Without it you can be awake but you typically feel groggy or brain fogged or like you could fall asleep again.

FDA Approves Pitolisant for Daytime Sleepiness in Patients with Narcolepsy

What would it mean to have more histimine in the body if one is dealing with issues like MCAS and/or mast cell issues....? So Provigil is the current drug for narcolepsy....it works thru some other mechanism but they don't really know what...possibly the dopamine pathway. It takes me a very...

    Any recent ME/CFS outbreaks?

NT Factor gives Irritability, anxiety and rage

I do have some modafinil. I have mixed experience with it as you mention. It makes me a bit more efficient. I save it for very important days like having more work/interview etc. It messes with my sleep and makes me a zombie, If I use it continuously.

NT Factor gives Irritability, anxiety and rage

I tried Provigil and felt a bit similar- it made me feel irritated, head achy, maybe I was a bit more alert- somehow with this illness, being more alert isn't particularly enjoyable.
