update on NICE consultation over its ME guidelines

I recently wrote to NICE asking them about the timeline for the update of their ME guidelines. Below is the answer I received:

''We currently have the consultation on our scope scheduled for the 21 June 2018 with the consultation on the full draft guideline on the 14 April 2020.

If you have registered as a stakeholder for this guideline you will be kept fully up to date on when these will take place when we approach these specific dates.''

Best wishes,

Today I received a further message from NICE that explains in more detail the timeline for its ME guidelines review. Please find below:

''We will firstly have a consultation period starting on the 21 June 2018 which will allow stakeholders to comment on the scope that we have drafted. The scope is where we have initially drafted the parameters for the guideline and what will and will not be included. We will also have our research questions stated at this point that will outline what we will be looking into once scope consultation closes.

Once the guideline committee has met for a series of monthly meetings (normally around 10 in total), we will have hopefully completed all of our necessary reviews of current evidence and produced a draft version of the guideline for a further consultation period. This will start on the 14 April 2020 and will give stakeholders an opportunity to comment on our full draft guideline.

We will then make any necessary amendments once this consultation closes and publication will occur later that year after final edit in October 2020.''

Best wishes,

Josh
