Criminal charges were dismissed Monday against a former Reno chronic disease researcher who had been accused of directing a research associate to steal laboratory research materials and give them to her after she was fired.
Judy Mikovits was arrested in November 2011 on charges of possessing stolen property and unlawfully taking computer data and equipment from the Whittemore Peterson Institute for Neuro-Immune Disease, where she had formerly been its director of research.
Her attorney, Tammy Riggs, said the charges were dismissed Monday afternoon by the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office. University of Nevada, Reno police sought the charges.
Riggs said Mikovits, who lives in California, was happy with the decision.
