In-Person Meeting: 2nd Annual Caregiver Appreciation Day

Our March meeting was about our caregivers. We aimed to accomplish two goals:

  • Thank our caregivers.
  • Give our caregivers a place to ask questions and see that we all experience fatigue, brain fog, pain, etc.

We had a panel of caregivers which included Jamie Liptan (Dr. Liptan’s husband), Amy Mills (her mom has had fibro Amy’s entire life) and Tony Gambino (his girlfriend has ME/CFS).

Tami Stackelhouse acted as moderator asked the following questions:

  • When you met your wife/husband, was he/she healthy or already sick?
  • How did you feel when your wife/husband was diagnosed?
  • Did you feel like you really understood how he/she felt at first?
  • Did your understanding change as things went on?
  • When did you REALLY get it – in terms of how sick he/she was?
  • How did his/her diagnosis change your life and/or relationship?

There was time for audience questions to the panel members.

Tami began the meeting with a short demonstration of “The Spoon Theory.” http://www.butyoudontlooksick.com/wpress/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/
