Many who suffer from ME/CFS have issues with their diet. The following may be of interest to such people.

Prof. Tim Noakes was born in Harare, Zimbabwe and studied at the University of Cape Town (UCT) where he obtained an MBChB degree in 1974, an MD in 1981 and a DSc (Med) in Exercise Science in 2002. He retired as Professor of Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Cape Town in 2014 and is now an Emeritus Professor at UCT.

In 2014 Professor Noakes received a prestigious award for his outstanding contributions to sport physiology. The South Africa Medal (gold) has been awarded annually since 1908 to recognise exceptional contributions to the advancement of science on a broad front or in a specific field. In April 2017 Professor Tim Noakes was cleared by the Health Professions Council of SAof misconduct in a case that cost millions. Tim Noakes was on trial for misconduct, having purportedly offered a motheradvice on Twitter regarding breast-feeding babies and weaning.

A mother had asked how the Banting diet could be applied to her child, and Prof Noakes responded, “Baby doesn’t eat the dairy and cauliflower.” (Cauliflower is a staple of many Banting recipes.) “Just very healthy high fat breast milk. Key is to wean baby onto LCHF[Low carb, high fat]” This was done over Twitter and it was said that he had no understanding re the full case for the patient concerned. Claire Julsing-Strydom, President of the Association for Dietetics in South Africa (ADSA), In February 2014, reported Noakes to the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

Professor Noakes was not even supported by his own University(Capetown) and he was persuaded to resign (with a good package)which he refused to do.He decided to fight the injustice/case...which he did with probably the best lawyers in RSA...and with the help of professional friends. His stance was vindicated in April 2017 when his team won the case.Professor Noakes called on experts too from Canada,Wales and New Zealand to support his cause/case.

Professor Noakes said that a number of people had tried to discredit him and tarnish his legacy as a researcher.“This case and the industries behind it were trying to shut me up and shut everyone up about what we should eat,” Noakes said in a Cape Argus report.

The low carbohydrate high fat diet(LCHF)(or Banting Diet) is very popular in South Africa. The diet aims to prevent and address insulin resistance, which is one of the root triggers for type 2 diabetes, obesity and many other chronic diseases.

In contrast the standard American(SAD)(Western diet)which has been promoted for the past 40 plus years which has seen an exponential rise in obesity and chronic diseases including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis and mental disorders.

I haven't heard anything about this case in the UK/Ireland, or about any changes in the Diet as have been recommended by Government/medical Authorities(in West). Surely it is time to consider a change from a High Carb /Low Fat Diet and to promote one along LCHF lines. What do you think?
