But I have the feeling that the worm is turning. The BMA at their Scottish Conference passed the following resolution

103a SCOTTISH CONFERENCE OF LMCs: That conference, in respect of work capability assessments (WCA) as performed by ATOS Healthcare, believes that:
(i) the inadequate computer based assessments that are used have little regard to the nature or complexity of the needs of long term sick and disabled persons
(ii) the WCA should end with immediate effect and be replaced with a rigorous and safe system that does not cause avoidable harm to some of the weakest and most vulnerable in society.

And there's the UK Conference soon, with a similar motion.

from the Black Triangle:-

* 103Dear Friends, FURTHER to our motion passed by our Scottish GP's Conference calling for an end to the DWP Atos Work Capability Assessments with IMMEDIATE EFFECT Black Triangle has ensured that the same motion will be debated at the UK LMC Conference in Liverpool on 23rd May at 11.40 a.m. [/FONT]

The motion was carried almost unanimously (one objection and a handful of abstentions) at Scottish LMC conference at Clydebank.

If this passes at Liverpool it will become official BMA policy and will hold positive implications for our fight to prevent PIP assessments following the same format in the wake of the abolition of DLA.

The GMC will be forced to institute a full investigation and under an obligation to take action to halt the assessments by revoking "Approved Medical Status" to testing centres. The motions were submitted by the Scottish LMC Conference and Hampshire and Isle of Wight LMC. Motions 103 & 103a can be viewed here:

Our doctors, nurses and allied professions are not made up of cruel barbarians such as our unconscionable, amoral (and yes - fascist) ConDem régime that puts the banking and corporate interest above and before that of compassion, caring and social solidarity and justice! They cannot compel our medical professionals to be complicit it what amounts to the systematic denial of the fundamental human rights of sick and/or disabled people!

People get ready! Unite as one now in defence of OUR SOCIETY, OUR NHS and OUR FREEDOM from the tyranny of a heartless élite who seek to run OUR NATIONS in their own personal interests! THEY SHALL NOT PASS! NO PASARÁN!

Solidarity is our weapon!

Black Triangle

Ahead of the Liverpool conference, we can make sure our GP's are aware of our bad experiences of ATOS assessments

And if more GP's educated themselves in ME (with all the latest research findings) we might make further progress. But they don't - is it a "hemmed" in or "locked" in syndrome.

Comparing these actions to the Nazi's is lame.

Probably the opinion of the author exclusively, and not necessarily the Scottish people.

And the Scottish government is rejecting the ersatz-Nazi English government's slow slaughter of the disabled and poor.
Sooner we get indepedance and tell Westminster to f** off and DIE the better! (no, not by violence by removing the one thing those scum desire above all: power)

Save yourselves, people of England, and rebel, before it's too late.
North and West England should break away so their honour is intact and people safe before they get dragged down the gutter.
gah, sorry, but it has come to such a pass :(
As usual, many folk cannot see the pattern, finish the equation and extrapolate the slaughter and ruin.
And many folk will blindly follow sociopathic monsters to a Hell of their own making because they are "their" side/religion or, worst of all, profit by it.

Weasels evil on us was a case study, it works, next up is everyone else!

ALBA GU BRATH!

MSPs support Scottish welfare changes

MSPs claim the UK welfare reforms will harm some of the most vulnerable people

Proposed new laws to "limit the impact" of UK-wide welfare reforms in Scotland should be passed, MSPs have said.

A special Holyrood committee said there were "grave concerns" over Westminster plans for a new universal credit.

The Scottish Parliament cannot stop Westminster changing the welfare benefits system.

But Holyrood must pass new legislation to ensure people still have access to certain benefits, after MSPs protested against the UK reforms.

In a new report, Holyrood's cross-party welfare reform committee said the Welfare Reform (further provision) (Scotland) Bill should go forward to its first vote in parliament.

The UK government wants to replace child tax credit, working tax credit, housing benefit, income support and others, in favour of a single, universal credit from 2013.

The coalition says the changes would save £7bn in welfare spending and encourage people currently on benefits to go out and find a job.

But Labour MSPs and the Scottish government said many in need of vital support will be worse off.

Last December, the Scottish Parliament took the unprecedented step of voting against a Westminster "consent" motion, under which the UK government wanted Holyrood's permission to change the law so its reforms would fit the Scottish system.

MSPs decided to make the necessary legal changes themselves, and the Scottish government brought forward its own legislation to ensure policies tied to the UK benefits system, like free school meals and disabled parking, continue.

Labour MSP Michael McMahon, convener of the special Holyrood committee, said of its investigation: "We heard from witnesses about the bleak picture for those on welfare and the scale of personal impact that is likely to follow the UK reforms.

"We have grave concerns for the future of Scotland's most vulnerable people."

Tory MSP Alex Johnstone, who sits on the Holyrood welfare committee, dissented from parts of the report.

MSPs support some aspects of the UK Welfare Reform Bill, including changes to data sharing, industrial injuries benefits and a new commission on social mobility and child poverty.

Thanks to the Scots for some compassion and common sense towards the disabled.

People from outside the UK and maybe outside England may not realise what we have been faced with a barrage of hate against the disabled in newspapers and other media.

Something that seems to have been missed by some commentators is that this process with started by the Labour party when they were in power.

When ME patients were allowed to attend the APPG in the House of Commons London we had Labour party Ministers and public officials at these meetings. We told them loudly and clearly what we thought of these "reforms" and let them know the problems with( for example ATOS) then and what we imagined happening. They showed no interest in our concerns.

It was the Labour party Ministers who are the authors of this. I imagine that most ME patients have given up having any faith in any party by now.

True (started in Labours end term)
but they are all in on it and it goes way back further

Labour sold itself, as said they had UNUM of ALL scum, funding their conferences in the "New Labour" era
I'm Left wing but supporting these bozos just because they claim to be left wing is stupid
just as stupid is keeping voting them in just because they are "Labour" (as in "tradition of voting")
as I keep saying, supporting someone because they are supposedly "your" side is what causes much of the world's troubles

my area's blighted by corruption/stupidity beyond belief in local government, because Labour has been in far far too long, that's never a good thing
Town centre revamp, is going ot take 18 months because of these incompetant ass clowns!! It should only take 6 weeks, it's going to destroy the local traders...same thing happened in another part of town previously and wiped the traders out.
either they are morons beyond belief, or....

Re-elect no one! Wanna clean up politics, start by having a one term limit in any tier of position (ie local, town/city, national government)
Incumbency leads to corruption and laziness.
See how THEY like no longer having a "Job for life" like they keep telling everyone else to put up with in the new "job market"
