Merryn Crofts was 21 when she died last year after battling chronic fatigue syndrome. A new documentary, ME and Me, takes a look at the disease that is still not taken seriously by some medical professionals

BEAMING for the camera as she stands next to her family, 15-year-old Merryn Crofts looks the picture of health.

But six years later, Merryn, from Rochdale, died at the age of just 21 from a condition many people - including some medical professionals - don't believe in.

It says fatigue worsens with activity, which is good, could have mentioned other symptoms like pain though.

Merryn was initially diagnosed with "conversion disorder", where symptoms are thought to have a psychological cause, before she received the diagnosis of ME from a private specialist in 2012.

Sadly this is all too familiar, the psychiatrist who sectioned me diagnosed me with somatization / somatoform disorder without any evidence.

I wonder which specialist she went to.
