@danielle0090 - The only SNPs listed there which might result in potential problems are MTHFR C677T +/- and MTHFR A1298C +/-. Depending on whether or not you got both from the same parent, MTHFR enzyme function is approximately 65% or 30% of optimal. "Normal" is around 70% of optimal in the general population.

Studies looking into those mutations have primarily been regarding the increased risk of birth defects in the children of mothers with those mutations. In a couple of those studies, taking a normal amount of folate or folic acid from vegetables or multivitamins resulted in that increased risk disappearing. There is no indication that any of the SNPs listed above have any particular relevance to ME/CFS.

Hi danielle, I am really a lay person in all this genetic stuff. But was I read is, that the
COMT V158M rs4680 AA +/+ polymorphism can make a person more prone to anxiety/stress and pain related problems. COMT brakes down catecholamines. In the ++ version the enzyme is slowed down. So dopamine and norepinephrine stay in the brain much longer. For "normal" individuals this can be an advantage. But for an already stressed out individual it can double the stress. There is also some research suggesting that comt++ individuals are more prone to "idiopathic" pain syndromes.
I am probably comt++ or +/-, too.
Good luck, hope this will help you!
