I thought some people on this forum might be interested in listening to this podcast episode. It's a podcast put out by Andreessen & Horowitz – a silicon Valley venture capitalist firm. They typically will talk about a subject (often very technical) and have people associated with their firm, a start up firm they've invested in or/and some other experts involved in the field talk about the future of their industry and changes that these start ups are trying to make viable.

This week they discuss computational biology, big Pharma and medical research. They start off with a discussion of the replication problem in medical research and then go off onto discussion of the pharmaceutical industry, big data, and possible changes in the future.

Well into the podcast They make mention of how the cystic fibrosis foundation has driven research in their area. And how that's one model for the future.

Nothing groundbreaking here, but who knows? It might provoke some discussion.

Big Pharma and medical research are certainly areas that could use some changes.
