Article: Chase Community Giving Contest Is Back!

If you haven't done it before you have to click on the Like button on Chase Community.....then you can vote however you want. I 'liked' Chase community last year and I didn't have to do it again.

I've started a thread with an opening message that begins with simple "how to" instructions for voting so it's easy to find & do for the brain-fogged (link in my signature below).

I've also changed my signature to advertise the contest on the forums - please feel free to copy it! When you're logged in you can edit/create your signature by going to "Settings" (top right of the screen, just to the left of the "Log out" button) and clicking on "Edit signature".

No. I was told the National Fibromyalgia Association is actually no more and that while they still have their website they have morphed into another organization... I need to find out more.

The WPI is at no. 4. Unless we all relax, they are up for $25,000 and will get into the next round. That's where we really need to up our game. Check out this site, for info on how to swap votes with others in different competitions:

Here's what I'm posting, adapted to circumstance, wherever I can think of:

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie, and it may be a cardinal sin to do this but, hey, this is so important for millions of people, I'm risking it to ask for your help.

Chase community giving are running another contest. The first round is running now, and ends on the 4th of May 2011, at midnight. The second round runs from May 19th to May 25th.

JPMorgan Chase has given more than $100 million to nonprofit organizations every year for the past five years, focusing on community development, education, and arts and culture. Right now, they are holding a two stage competition for grants of $25,000 in the first round, and up to $500,000 in the second. It's open to all facebook users.

Im asking you to support the Whittemore Peterson Institute, and here's why:
The WPI is the only institute in the world who is dedicated to looking for a cure for neuro-immune diseases such as ME, MS, Autism, fibromyalgia and Gulf War Syndrome.
The WPI is the only institute that is researching Gulf War Syndrome to give our forces the treatment and respect they deserve
The WPI is the only scientists who are pushing Governments for more research and more funding for neuroimmune disease TODAY
The WPI is the only team who are making breakthroughs in preventing and treating Lymphoma, Prostate Cancer and Human Herpes Viruses implicated in some forms of cancer
The WPI are independent, they are free to follow the most promising lines of enquiry, even if that goes against the current thinking.
The WPI need our support to finish their work. Vested interests are strangling public funding for them.
The WPI have already built a new, state of the art research lab and clinic, they are ready to do ground breaking translational research into neuro-immune disease.
The WPI need our help so they can help find the cure for millions of people.

Anyone can be struck down with MS, ME or lymphoma. You could be next and find there is little funding for your disease. Help us today to win much needed funding on facebook for the Whittemore Peterson Institute.

I'm hoping folk here will help the Whittemore Peterson Institute win much needed cash in the Chase Community Giving competition, running now on Facebook.

With five minutes of your time on facebook, you can give the Whittemore Peterson Institute a chance of winning $500,000! Why?

If you don't want to compromise your information by allowing Chase in to your facebook account, make another one with a new email! Here's how to do it.

1) Create a new free email account to use with facebook so there is no chance of compromising your existing email account. There are loads of suppliers, hotmail yahoo and gmail are the biggest.
http://email.about.com/od/freeemailreviews/tp/free_email.htm

2) Create a Facebook page. You need a first name and a last name, but it does not have to be your real first and last name. If Facebook requires info you don't want to give, just make up a fictional answer. Just make sure you give a working email address, because they will verify that.

Then all you need to do is go on facebook and,
1. Like Chase Community Giving here http://www.facebook.com/ChaseCommunityGiving
2. Go here and vote for the Whittemore Peterson Institute: http://chasecommunitygiving.contextoptional.com/charities/205904991-whittemore-peterson-institute-fo
or search via the Chase search engine - Whittemore Peterson Institute

If you are on a mac, Safari hates facebook apps but Firefox works, if you enable third party cookies. Facebook apps is all I use Firefox for.

Thanks for reading this, now, please, pretty please would you share with you friends, and then log on to facebook. Thank you so much

I realised something earlier which I thought I'd highlight:

Charities only get one shot at round 2 - after the one, both the WPI and the CAA will never be eligible again*.

So we need to make an all-out effort.

*Indeed this time next year, there may be a contest for charities with turnovers of over $1m where there are no eligible ME/CFS charities.

From the Whittemore Peterson Institute Facebook page:

A message from Annette Whittemore

"As the competition moves along more charities are combining efforts. In the spirit of working together for patients, we're asking for people to use any unused votes to help support the CAA. Many have already voted for both and we thank you. Let's make medical research and patients a priority on this top 10 list for Chase."

ETA: I set up a specific thread to discuss it: http://forums.phoenixrising.me/show...temore-encouraging-people-to-vote-for-the-CAA rather than have a discussion spread over lots of threads.
