Found this thread, I was diagnosed by Dr Patel in December 2016 after many distressing referrals to other specialists some who said it was all in my head.
Dr Patel looked through my diary with photos and symptom tracking I had done with my husbands help. He asked me a few questions and my husband and examined me and diagnosed me with chronic fatigue syndrome.
my husband and I cried that we finally had an answer!
I had 4 appointments with Dr Patel. One was the initial consultation with diagnosis, I had another to explain what they do, order other tests, and offer possible treatments that have worked for some others and a final one to ensure we understand the condition. I do have a leaflet I will dig it out and post a picture here for others.
I signed up for GET, I did notice some improvement in the beginning but I think it now was because when I went to Dr Patel I was in a constant cycle of pushing myself, testing my limits and crashing - the diagnosis made me stop, knowing it wasn’t in my head and couldn’t be fixed with pushing myself;
I say I tried GET well my firm lasted a year of telephone appointments with the physiotherapist because I couldn’t get to the centre regularly and not crash and my activities were all about pacing. Learning I could wash up some days but I must sit down so I could do this more reliably on other days.
anyway this has gone more detailed than I anticipated apologies will stop here and just say:
i plateaud walking and moving onto actual GET didn’t work I fell back into a crash cycle. I was discharged from the programme.
I have attempted contacting Dr Patel via my GP this last year to see if he is offering any further trials or any advice on treatment as I’m still sick and still have episodes returning to bed even after 4 years but as yet no response has been received.
I hope this message finds you had a good experience with Dr Patel too.
