The contest for the public service announcements is coming along well. We ended up with six entries. Please view these and then give your comments:

Entry #1 Triggers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i68TnLdJDLc

Entry #2 Research http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pW6FXLX-qvg

Entry #3 Virus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2poYid6MdoQ

Entry #4 Serious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6p_w-nL85NI

Entry #5 ME/CFS Sucks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w9bIWxjPMk&feature=channel_video_title

Entry #6 Memories http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZvuybLoD70

Feedback time is for patients to give suggestions on how to improve the entries and what is good about each one, what does not need to be changed.

Please give your feedback here: http://forum.mcwpa.org/viewforum.php?f=8

Also, the deadline for feedback is April 3 at midnight EST.

Thanks to everyone.

I've been trying to post on the mcwpa website but, it doesn't allow me. It says I need to register and when I try to - it says that my e-mail account is already in use? I don't remember registering before. I don't know how to bypass this problem.

Tina,

My vote is for #2. Clean message with a clear goal - fund more research. My only question would be, "how can the viewer help increase funding for more research?"

Thanks for doing this and thanks to those who took the time and effort to make the videos.

I agree with Shane, #2 gets my vote. If anything could be changed, perhaps adding "Find out more...(at mcwpa).

And this is probably my brain fog / concentration issue, but they all seem to move quite quickly. If "ME/CFS" could stay on the screen (perhaps faded back in the background throughout #2, then that might help too. ???

#4 -- the music was waaay too loud, for me anyway. And the music in #5 seemed too casual sounding, not serious enough. Lots of people LIKE 'the blues'...

But thanks to all who worked on these -- everyone should be very proud of their work.

reasons

I should give some information overall that would apply to all PSAs.

Just as we had restrictions put on us because the Washington Post ad was done under a non-profit organization status, thanks to PANDORA, we have limitations on PSA.

It has to be sponsored by non-profit organization. Also, it can not lobby for government to do anything. It can not ask for funds.

But, it can direct to a website where we do have that message. And the whole point is to get news media interviews so that message can be given.

Thanks Tina, great stuff once again. :D

I agree #2 is the best at the moment, because it gets the most information across in the short 30s available - but I like the message of #5 as well. And they're all good.

To remind everyone, the invitation here is to comment on these 'draft' videos within the MCWPA forum, so that they can be further improved by the designers. I don't know whether the MCWPA will also be checking out all the comments on this thread? But anyway, it will be good for all of us if we sign up there too - and by the way, I'm very pleased to see the MCWPA breaking free from the tie to Facebook: I can sign up now! :D

LIke number #2. and #4 the most. Probably number #2.

Somebody pointed out before when the ad ran on the NY billboard that perhaps ME/CFS needs to be spelled out..... Like Chronic Fatigue Immuno Deficiency Syndrome, and Myalgyic Enchephalamytis. Might need to educate on what ME/CFS is so most people will get it. However, well done. Think number 4 had the shock factor, which might be more valuable. toss up.

I liked number 2.. It was clear and precise. Also, can any suggestion be given as to how to help fund the research.

Appreciate the work!!

the feedback time is now over. Look for an announcement within the week asking for a vote of the final submissions.

Thanks for the effort.

As to asking for funding, unfortunately, that isn't allowed in public service announcements, which are free. It has to be educational. But, when we do these and the news media calls to do interviews, that's when we give that message.

If you have not listened, you can hear that message in these two interviews: http://www.archive.org/details/KrfcRadioInterviewAboutMecfsAndXmrv
