2 New drugs underway for Fibromyalgia + research (all posted from this week!)

1. "In new research released this week, TONIX Pharmaceuticals has shared news that the very first drug being developed for night time usage in the treatment of fibromyalgia syndrome (FM), named cyclobenzaprine (CBP), is working on improving the condition's core symptoms." Basically, flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) has been used off-label by many doctors, but TONIX is attempting to get approval for a "very low dose cyclobenzaprine" because they find it more effective.

2. "Chelsea Therapeutics receives new US patent for Droxidopa drug" Chelsea Therapeutics (NASDAQ:CHTP) said on Tuesday that the U.S. Patent Office has issued a new patent for the use of drug Droxidopa to treat fibromyalgia, a chronic disorder characterized by widespread muscle pain, joint stiffness, and fatigue. With close to 20 years on the market, Droxidopa has proven to have very few side effects of which most are mild.

They are actually narrowing this illness down to the genes, which I think is fascinating in part because "Variation in these genes may serve as a basis for development of new diagnostic approaches"

This last one isnt too surprising but its regarding "The relation between vitamin D deficiency and fibromyalgia syndrome in women" Among the 100 fibromyalgia women, there were 61 women with 25(OH) D deficiency;

Again, all news and studies were posted within this past week!! I feel like something is getting done

I was on flexeril for a while. It causes vicious dry mouth. I found it helped with pain for a short while and then stopped working. The time when it worked was really valuable because i did feel a lot better. It also helped with my insomnia. I think flexeril would be better if a doctor knows to change the dose up and down to stop the body from getting used to it.

I have also increased my Vitamin D and direct sunshine intake. I feel really good these days but I am not sure what to put that down to.

Cool. I have AA/GG/GG for these SNPs, all ancestral alleles.

I wonder if they have mentioned which are the bad genotypes.
