Stomach issues/ nausea?

I wanted to reach out to see if anyone has stomach issues or nausea. I feel like my stomach is unsettled and sour most of the time. I have nonerosive gastritis and an active enterovirus infection in my stomach. I also have high titers to Coxsackie B4 and Exhovirus 30. Does anyone have any experience with nausea or an upset stomach? Has anyone tried equilibrant or Oxymatrine for their enterovirus?

I had chronic gastritis and had a mild flare up recently. I have had to make sure and not consume any caffeine. I have to be careful about coffee even decaf.

How did you find out you have an enterovirus in your stomach? I went to the doctor like a ton of times with my gastritis and they just said "oh, you're bleeding but it's not in your GI. Go home, take Zantac and Gaviscon, have a nice life."

Yes I get nausea, but it's a weird creepy kind which doesn't seem directly related to my stomach. Or to eating/not eating/whatever I eat etc. And I have no other stomach issues of any kind. Mine seems to come kind of from all over me or from inside my head (or something else indefinable!) and seem to be more connected with exhaustion. Not connected with dizziness so I feel inner ear problems/labyrinthitis etc aren't the cause.
But I did get some GI issues in the 4th week all connected with headache, eye ache,. which made me wonder if that "flu" I got was some kind of enterovirus.
It was hard enough to even get to the doctor but he ran bloods for me -and found no signs of infection or imbalances, and told me he'd done a thorough test for any signs of infection...so I'm unsure quite what that means. If titers were done or not?
Next hurdle of course is getting back to the doctor for further discussion which isn't easy.

Did you have enterovirus titers done at ARUP?

I actually got an endoscopy after complaining that I was sick, lost some weight, and I honestly MADE them give me an endoscopy after complaining. You may have to kind of stretch the truth to get them to do it unfortunately or they’ll blow you off!

@Dallase1 ...Is ARUP the university of Utah lab?
I live in the UK so if so, that I think would be off limits. I am on NHS so not only is it hard to get to the doc, but any referrals to specialists take weeks to happen. Ordinary blood results don't usually take more than a week but can be two for special things. I guess I could fight my way back to my GP, ask for enterovirus titers...
I seriously suspect an enterovirus.
Issue was though, I was never ever febrile. Not even a little bit. Low temperature throughout. Not usually classic for a viral infection -or is it?? Also no trace of anything respiratory.

You must get the ARUP enterovirus panel to see. I had that and a stomach biopsy which both showed active infections.
I haven't had any temperature issues or fevers either. From what I've gathered, your immune system must be stimulated to fight these infections. In an under-active state, like CFS, our immune systems don't mount the proper response and we stay stuck. That's why people talk about "immune modulators" to kick-start your immune system. I have found a mushroom supplement that raises my temperature, indicating a boost in immune function.

Wow super interesting because they found the exact same thing in my biopsy - nonerosive gastritis. Not caused by acid. The article mentioned “enterovirus treatment”. What is the best treatment for them?
The only thing I know of is what you originally mentioned, long term oxymatrine (such as Equilibrant) but I did see mention of taking dihydroquercetin too.

@Wolfcub I get very similar symptoms , and my pem affects my stomach a lot.
My gastroenterologist said I have esonophilic esophagitis and gastroparesis.
She also put me on ant acid but it doesn't help. I tried another medication but it did nothing.
I have also tried various probiotics; they make me a lot sicker.

I have no advice, but I do understand.

Mine tried to put me on an acid reducer but I refused. The did an endoscopy and found mild inflammation and my gastroparesis Test was negative. I also had my gallbladder checked and it was perfect. I’d say to you that it’s probably gastritis caused from an enterovirus. That’s the only thing they found positive. Have you been tested for it?

I had an endoscopy done.it showed eosinophilic esophagitis and gastritis.
I wasn't tested for enterovirus.
I took budesonide for a while but it made me worse

Yea I had gastritis too. It feels like my stomach is literally rotting from the inside when I get PEM. It’s awful. I’m trying the Oxymatrine for the viruses along with a mushroom supplement.

Oh and @Dallase1 what exactly is enterovirus and how is it diagnosed and treated? I'm already on valcyte for hhv6 and ebv. (Which is killing my stomach even more)
How high are your titers for HHV6 and EBV? Specifically?
It is a virus that causes all kinds of stuff - there are several kinds and they’re common. However for some of us they persist and our immune systems don’t get rid of them. They’re what cause the “stomach flu” or a “24 hour virus”. They’re diagnosed via ARUP Labs Enterovirus panel which tests for Coxsackievirus and echoviruses. You can also get a biopsy of your stomach sent to a lab to test for them.

@Pink My feelings of nausea might be so different to yours. Mine is very mild, just a general "queasiness" and only sometimes. most times when I'm doing something I shouldn't, like a warning. Like an exhaustion feeling more than anything, and not really from my stomach/gut as such. It comes in with the headache when that kicks up.

Anyway I did find some things that helped me, but I don't know if they would help you or not (?)

I am a herbal medicine person. I find herbs suit me and am scared of most drugs because of awful side effects in the past, which don't happen for me with herbs. I am sensitive to most drugs in a horrible way.
But I know you said you don't want to take herbs and have your reasons.
But even though you can't do herbs, you could try the Ginger root. I can't see that would do any harm unless you are allergic/sensitive to it or something.

So yes, chewing thin slices of fresh ginger root really helped me a lot. Not TOO much, just a thin slice less than 1/4 inch thick, whenever I needed it but max. 3 times a day. I found I didn't even need a whole slice at once. Maybe I'd have half.
It sounds so simple, like it won't work, but I was impressed. I also tried Black Horehound but the ginger was most effective. A couple of teaspooons of Brandy mixed with a little honey helped me too. Even though I was a bit alcohol-sensitive, it often calmed down the nausea.
I drank Meadowsweet tea too. And Peppermint. But nothing worked as well as the Ginger.
