The 8th Biomedical Research into Colloquium (#BRMEC8) is held over two days 30-31st May 2018.

The Invest in ME Research Biomedical Research into ME Colloquiums are research meetings organised by the charity to encourage biomedical research into ME and international collaboration amongst researchers.

"Our aim with the annual CPD-accredited research colloquiums has also been to introduce new researchers into the field of ME research, to gain new insights into the disease and enhance the strategy of research we are building."

"If you are a researcher and are interested in attending the BRMEC* Colloquiums then please use our contact form to discuss this - Contact Us".

Invest in ME Research is an independent UK charity facilitating and funding a strategy of biomedical research into Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME or ME/CFS) and promoting better education about ME.

The charity is run by volunteers - patients or parents of children with ME.

"No salaries, no government funding, but wonderful supporters who have enabled us to change the direction of research into ME in the UK and Europe."

The charity was built on the firm belief that biomedical research into ME was crucial in order to make progress in treating this disease.

The education of healthcare staff, the media, government departments, patient groups and patients was also to be a priority - but something which would develop from the research being undertaken.

"Welcome to London - Welcome to IIMEC13 and BRMEC8"

At the request of IiME Research, Valvira has removed from its website statements to the effect that:
"Treatments that have some evidence of efficacy (graded exercise therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy) should be made available in the whole country."
Invest in ME Research has invited Valvira, Finland's National Supervisory Authority for Health and Welfare, to their 2018 Biomedical Research Conference events: http://www.investinme.org/IIME-Newslet-1709-02.shtml

It's Finland's 100 year independence anniversary day today :balloons:

New Guest Speaker announced for BRMEC8 - http://www.investinme.eu/IIMEC13-news-180103.shtml

For the 2018 we are very pleased to announce a new researcher to our Colloquium who will be attending and providing invaluable knowledge for the family of researchers we have gathered.

Last year we extended an invitation to Professor Heikki Hyöty, Professor of Virology from University of Tampere in Finland.

We are pleased to announce that Professor Hyöty has accepted.

A research group at the University of Tampere led by Professor Hyöty has long pioneered the development of a vaccine that could prevent Type 1 Diabetes.

Professor Hyöty has been leading several large scale international projects relating to research into diabetes.

Patients have set up a page for donations to help sponsor the 2018 events: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/fundraising-4me

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We created it as an opportunity to sponsor the 2018 biomedical research conference events organised and hosted by the charity Invest in ME Research (ME stands for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis).

The charity has no paid staff and receives no government funding to support its vital work on initiating and progressing biomedical research to establish diagnostic tests and medical treatments for ME.

This work includes an annual week of events in London, including an international conference day open to all (ticket-only) and a 2-day workshop for the world's leading and emerging medical scientists.

We can't attend these important annual events as we are housebound by ME, so we had the idea of donating the costs to the charity instead, and we thought other supporters might like to do the same, whether as one lump sum or smaller donations throughout the year.

Every donation helps this small charity to make their international biomedical research conference events bigger and better year on year enabling an increasing number of outstanding scientists from around the world to get involved in finding answers to this dreadful disease.

Here's a JustTextGiving option for UK sponsors.

Text BRME75 (e.g. £10) to 70070
If you are an organisation or potential corporate sponsor then please see the charity's conference site for info on sponsorship opportunities and contact details: http://investinme.eu/index.shtml#sponsors

If you would like to see the full presentations from previous conferences (including June 2017) then you can order the conference DVDs: http://investinme.eu/IIMEC13-pastconferences.shtml

Past conference editions of the Journal of IiMER and newsletters are also at the above link.

Whether like us, you can't go in person, or would just like to be part of the future of biomedical research into this disease by sponsoring productive international cooperation, we thank you for your support.
