OMG!!! This guy is relentless I am glad that Dr Montoya set him streight.
My two cents:
1) there is a soubgroup of non hiv AIDS plp that were lumped with Cfs and that are contagious ( but it is not the mayority of patients). I think since the 2 deseases bahave so differently ( depletion of CD56 vs CD4) that they should be even their own entity.
2) I am glad Montoya finally told him is crazy to say hiv and Cfs are the same thing.
3) I do not discount that hiv and Cfs were engineered at the same time ( that is the only thing they have in common in my book) but they are not the same, is more likely the theory that the government created a virus to disable and another to kill therory than the theory Cfs is AIDS. I wouldn't mind if it is truth. But it just does not add up to my observations of the data ( I am 100% not contagious)

I have just downloaded the 9 podcasts to date, haven't listened to them yet. If anyone has, what do we think of this guy?

I have listened to all the podcasts and I found them to be interesting. However, they are provocative and some (if not all of the podcasts) touch on his view that the herpesvirus HHV-6 is the driving force behind AIDS and not the retrovirus HIV.

The topic of HHV-6 comes up in the interview with Dr. Montoya, so it is interesting to understand his investigation into this virus and how Dr. Montoya answers his questions about HHV-6 and ME/CFS research. I don't have my notes in front of me right now, as to the minute marker in the podcast where this specific discussion takes place, but I will provide this reference point in a follow-up post.

Regardless of whether you agree or not with Ortleb's views on HIV, I found his historical perspective on the political/scientific climate for AIDS and ME/CFS (especially in the U.S.) to be helpful in uuderstanding more of the twists and turns related to both the outbreaks of HIV-AIDS and the 1980's/1990's "CFS"cluster outbreaks in the U.S. I would consider his podcasts/books to be companion reading to Hillary Johnson's book Osler's Web (about ME/CFS) and Randy Shilts book the "Band Played On'" (about HIV-AIDS).

I also enjoyed his style of interviewing. For some people this may have seemed too pushy or abrasive, but I saw it as an interview conducted by an investigative journalist trying to get a direct response to some tough, but legitimate questions. If you listen carefully to the interview questions and Dr. Montoya's answers, there was definitely a bit of a game of cat and mouse being played when Dr. Montoya tried to sidestep answering some of his questions. I do understand why Dr. Montoya was uncomfortable with answering some of the more controversial questions. However, I felt these were questions that needed to be asked and pursued (until it became apparent that the interviewer needed to back off for the interview to continue and to try to preserve an opportunity for a follow-up interview).

Not sure if this directly answers your question "what do you think of this guy". However, I think his body of work speaks to his skills as an investigative journalist and someone worth reading/listening to, if you are interested in understanding the overlap of the controversies/science surrounding ME/CFS and other illnesses like HIV-AIDS.

In my opinion, it is difficult to follow or effectively advocate for ME/CFS in the U.S. or in other countries without looking at how the history and politics of this illness overlaps/intersects with other illnesses like lHIV-AIDS. GWS, MS. ALS, Autism, Polio, Tick/Arthopod borne illnesses) and Chemical, Mold, and Heavy Metal Toxicity. Specifically, how these illnesses have been investigated and/or treated by the U.S. (and other countries) public health and social benefit agencies, 2) other private science/medical researchers, clinicians, and educators, 3) the pharmaceutical industry, 4) medical and disability insurers and 4) the legislative arm in the U.S. (and other countries). Massively complex, but I believe so important to at least listen and evaluate the investigative journalists who have waded into the deep waters of these types of illnesses.

He has now sent me this:
The Disturbing Autism and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Connection
Charles Ortleb, the author of Truth to Power, interviews Dr. Michael J. Goldberg, the author of The Myth of Autism. Goldberg is the President of the Neuro-Immune Dysfunction Syndromes (NIDS) Medical Advisory Board and has been on the clinical teaching staff at both UCLA and Cedars-Sinai Hospitals. Dr. Goldberg has challenged the conventional wisdom about so-called "autism," arguing that, in its new epidemic form, it is not psychological or developmental, but a very treatable medical disease. Based on twenty-three years of treating patients, he believes there is strong evidence to show that what is called "autism" is actually caused by a dysfunction of the neuro-immune sysem and often by secondary neurotropic viruses that impact the neuro-immune system and brain. He believes that "autism" is connected to illnesses such as chronic fatigue syndrome and ADD/ADHD. Goldberg explains why he thinks it is a tragic mistake to blame vaccines for "autism" when viruses and autoimmunity seem to be the real culprits.

Another interesting interview on Charles Ortleb’s radio show. This interview is with pediatrician, Dr. Michael Goldberg, who believes there is a connection between an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Phenotype and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome that has been overlooked by the medical “establishment”. Dr. Goldberg’s wife suffered from CFS and through treatment, which included anti-virals, she has recovered from her illness. On Ortleb’s “HHV-6 University” Blog (see - 9/24/2017 - blog entry), he has also posted two YouTube videos of Dr. Goldberg discussing his views on autism. See, http://hhv6.blogspot.com/?view=classic

Discussion, in the show with Dr. Goldberg, also touches on Dr. Montoya’s ME/CFS research.. Ortleb states how surprised he is that Dr. Montoya did not make the cut on the most recent NIH ME/CFS research funding awards. If you have not had a chance to listen to the interview with Dr. Montoya, it would be an interesting companion interview to listen to before or after Dr. Goldberg’s interview. See, Dr. Montoya’s interview at https://charlesortleb.podbean.com/e...-leading-chronic-fatigue-syndrome-researcher/.
