Is medical marijuana the answer to our constant fatigue?

It didn't help my fatigue, but did help greatly with pain when I tried it in Seattle once. Ridiculous that which state we live in determines whether we can use medical pot. I live in TX, so can't have it here.

In australia it recently been legalized but for very specific indications and only prescribed by specialists after other meds havent worked.

Its funny how regulated it is when its a very common drug used in the community illegally.

And less likely to cause side effects that all those other meds are known to do.
Talk about putting people through the mill unnecessarily.:(

I know a handful of ME patients who use it, they say it helps with pain, but no other symptoms.

I am such a patient, but I would rather say that the chief help is with the sleep. Contrary to most (or all) sleeping pills I've ever tried, I get nothing like a hangover from taking CBD at about six-ish each evening.

And this better sleep makes a huge difference for me. [That is not to say that I never have sleepless nights. But they are not as frequent as they used to be.] My morning-hours are now the best hours of the day, but I also think there is a cumulative effect.

It obviously curbs anxiety - and maybe also depressive thoughts.

Probably it also mitigates pain and some other things. But I can not detect it, since my aches comes and leaves in very slow relapses, building up for many weeks or months, and then waning even more slowly.

I really dont know much about it but different strains are better for sleep etc. Id say its sleep benefits would be the most attractive aspects but also different ways to use it other than smoking it.

I can't speak to its effect on fatigue as I don't have that symptom (unless I over exert and its part of the PEM).

I also don't have pain, so can't comment on that either.

I vape if for anti-inflammatory, pro neuro-genesis, anti-nausea, anti-tumour, pro sense of well being - I also think I read recently it inhibits/breaks down Alzheimer's plaques (and I'm genetically susceptible to that).

I hope its helping my sleep, otherwise I'd get even less.

Why couldnt it have been beer that did all these things. Id much prefer a beer as a cure.

Ask and you shall receive.

I'm sure you're aware that Hops are related to Cannabis. What you may not have experienced is that they also share some of the same substances. Terpenes are present in Hops and known to be responsible for some of the medical benefit in Cannabis.

Pacific Northwest IPA's have high levels of Terpene-rich Hops and some of these will give you a Cannabis-like medicinal effect on ME/CFS.

Look for high IBU's and descriptions of citrus-fruit flavors in the beer.

Interesting, each of the people I referred to have fibro + ME.

@Manganus, have you tried melatonin? How does marijuana compare with melatonin in terms of effectiveness, side effects, etc.?

If I could get a prescription I would probably use this daily. When I've used it in the past it has helped with anxiety, nausea, and sleep. It calms down my mind when it is racing. My muscles also feel at peace. I read somewhere that gaba has a very similar action to this. As a result I have been taking gaba although the marijuana seems to work much better. I don't think I would use enough to give me the munchies... just enough to get rid of the constant nausea. Its nice to have a calm moment and more sleep too.

It didn't help my fatigue.

I tried it when it was only medically available in Seattle (before it became recreationally legal), and it turns my legs to jello and some varieties actually cause severe pain while high. It's great for sleep though, and I think it continues to benefit during the day too. Whether that has to do with getting a few good nights sleep or if it has to do with pain and inflammation reduction long term I don't know. A few drops at bedtime with my melatonin and I sleep through the night and wake up feeling great. But no day time use for me unless I want to resort to crawling. Your mileage may vary.

It just helps me with pain.
Nothing else.

It helped me with sleep at the start but now doesn't help sleep and I am addicted.

It worsens exhaustion and POTS in most people. It also is well known for making memory worse.
